I'm not very familiar with 3rd edition, but I am aware that expansion boards were thought out a head of time (somewhat) so that corners and sides could all be used for add on boards. So can anyone tell which corner the Dungeons is going to attach to?

If 3e is any indication, entrance will be through the Ruins.

In 2nd edition you had to find a special place adventure card to access the Dungeon called Doorway. I see that the expansion will add some new Adventure Cards. Since the deck has become really big after Reaper, I don't think they're going to add new Adventure Cards for base play, but they're going to bring back the Doorway cards in an adequate number.

There are two new card types depicted on the box. One is made of Dungeon adventure cards, but the other?

A wizard is never too late. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.

I'm not sure about this specific expansion, but I feel there will be many new Adventure cards in the future of Talisman. Considering the number of expansions in 2nd edition, how big were the Adventure decks? Personally, I hope they keep on addding to the adventure deck. Im sure Ill manage shuffling it somehow. ;-)

It seems the Products page on the Talisman website has been updated to include the contents of the Dungeon Expansion.

Game Contains:

* 1 Rulebook
* 1 Dungeon Board
* 128 Dungeon Cards
* 20 Spell Cards
* 10 Adventure Cards
* 10 Treasure Cards
* 5 Character Cards
* 5 Plastic Figures

Looks like the reduced adventure card speculation is correct. And we also know what that second card type isTreasure!

Just noticed that the main talisman board game box shows only five characters in the rear and all eleven in the front.The reaper shows all characters in the rear and minus the sage in the front.So maybe not all characters are shown in the dungeon box front or rear,there might be a surprise....Wishfull thinking.....................The chaos warrior looking character does seem like an npc as somone allready quoted.

It also said "Coming May 2009"

Looks like we'll have a long time to talk about it before it comes out.

I'm glad they keep the chance of being teleported to the Crown of Comand (Stated on the products page). Hopefully the dungeon is still accessed through dungeon door adventure cards rather then a fixed point on the board. I'm not thrilled that they went with the L shaped boards since it give you less options for set up (I don't have a table big enough to hold the talisman board plus the expantion boards around the edges), but oh well. I can't wait, Dungeon was my favorite expantion!!

P.S.

Does anyone have better pictures of the back of the box? I would love to get a good look at the board.

Ah, so then it would probably wrap around the Tavern.

I don't know - I never really liked the expansiosn that added boards (although I did prefer the 3rd edition corner boards to the entirely seperate boards).

I just never liked the fact that you got distracted from your main quest there.

Now - a revised main board might be interesting...

Ewww, not a fan of this. You should take the path people normally have to take, with all the hardships that come with it, instead of getting a crutch that let's you get to the Crown .

If you don't like it you can just take that treasure card out of the deck.

Are you sure it will be just 1 card that allows that (or even done via a card)? I haven't played the 2nd ed Dungeon, so don't know how the teleporting happens, just know that I don't like the idea at all. As for removing cards, I'm a stickler for keeping in everything, pretty much the only reason I decided to allow Fate (though thankfully no replenish erratas to my BI board), because I didn't want to leave out cards relating to it.

In second edition you rolled a die after completing the dungeon to see where you came out. A 6 was the crown of command. This edition states on the product page that:

"Legends say that in the deepest pits of this abyss, the Lord of Darkness stands watch over a vast treasure that even includes a portal that leads to the renowned Crown of Command!"

There are ten treasure cards in this edition. As there are only ten I would assume that you draw one card after making your way through the dungeon and perhaps defeating the Lord of Darkness. This probably won't be an easy task, but we won't know for sure till this expantion comes out.

It's also possible from this text that the dungeon is an alternate route to the crown of command and the treasure cards are seprate from the portal.

Checked out the artwork that has surfaced for the dungeon and it looks pretty good.

It is promising that there are a large number of cards in the Dungeon deck and it looks like it will be much tougher than the 2nd edition version

That was so weak, we stopped using it.

I think I am going to have to get this new-fangled revised edition after all ....

The 2nd edition Dungeon was useless. I created a host of new cards to make it more interesting, however, and that made it everyone's favourite addition. So it shouldn't be hard to make the Dungeon work well. Also, I'm pretty sure the Lord of the Whatnot is going to work somewhat like the Reaper, so the Dungeon doesn't become a refuge from the horrors of meeting the Reaper.

As an aside, I would absolutely LOVE to see a revised version of Timescape. I know many players hated it, but to me it added tons of fun, as well as bold new strategies.
