I'd love to have a set of TOAD dice with a pair of TOADIFY spell cards packed in for good measure! I would by that (probably multiple) in a second!
I think that FFG must release as much expansions as they can, and add the cards what they want.
If someone get some dungeon cards in a expansion, and they don't own the dungeon, then it is the problem from that player and not FFG.
I think that you must see all the expansions as one big game.
But if a expansion will be released with a theme, then it would be nice that a lot of cards fits to that theme.
But other cards as normal adventure cards, and some dungeon cards etc, can still be added..

Let's skip the random boosters. i hate it too.
we are actually only talking about this, because people don't want to buy some expansions...( and then it will lead to this..)
If you are a Talisman Freak, then you buy everything
Oh my god, random boosters would kill it I think. Though if it did happen I would of course be drawn into the downward spiral, but I would hate myself for it!! Seriously though, I think with the advent of the LCG system, this will be the last thing on FFG's mind.
I like the idea of smaller themed decks though. Goblins, Dragons, Neutrals... I'd like that along with some plain old characters, that are less overgunned and more like the Fantastic Fourteen.
Harbourmaster at Talisman Island - Fourteen magical years & counting!! - Chock full of Talisman goodness! Igigwe!
Sometimes I even update my Facebook page for the site!
I can’t see even a marketing standpoint for random boosters. At least with MtG, if you got more boosters, or if you were lucky, the ultra-rare card gave you an advantage against your opponent.
In Talisman, all random boosters would do is make your Talisman gameplay at Bob’s different than at Fred’s, and that’s only if the 1-2 (hey, they are rare, right) cards come up in the 400+ cards there will be by then.
The only conceptual way to make random boosters work (and I’m not advocating this, but this is the only idea that pops in my head right now) is if there were cards that said “Board Owner gets THIS freebie when card is drawn…” which, well, only lends to arguments.
“Lets play at my house using my Talisman board and deck.”
“No! We’re going to MY house, using MY Talisman.”
“Absolutely not. MY HOUSE and using…”
Yeah. That’ll end well.
Otherwise, random boosters just means the experience is that much different. Sure, I have all expansions, and Bob has the base Talisman only, so, at Bob’s house, the game is different. But my “I have them all” and the other guy’s “I have them all” Talisman gameplay is identical, barring home rules of course.
Now, themed expansion packs, that I could get into.
Anti-PvP Decks.
Dragon Decks.
Anti-PvP Decks.
Undead Decks.
Anti-PvP Decks.
Strong 7+ ST/CR Decks.
Anti-PvP Decks.
(see a pattern yet? Heh)
THAT I can get behind.
Home Rules means only playing with close friends that will tolerate them...
promo is a bad word like ultra rare only at gencon, pay high money on ebay.
so the problem on talisman is that cards and charakters could be released, but how said find that card in a 400 card pool is a lotery. cards like trainer are no promo cards they are cards that player missed if they not have.
ffg is sadly different als gw the made a charakter set it in wd , the player saw it and buy the mini. or he cut out new adventure cards beause the cards were not in the game(later they were in the expansion).
so my idea ist a charakter+ mini+ a few cards(amory for this charakter, a spell, an iten, a theme adventure card) and a board tile that will set on the game board.
the question is manny come 10 for example you got 10 tiles that could be set in a order or free.

Are you the type that feels their game is broken if they do not own everything? We have seen the reaction of some to the promo cards that were made for Talisman, but is that a general opinion?
That is true, Talisman fan can miss only 2 cards and he will never be satisfied... I am not the only person which was late for both promo cards
(Doppelganer and Instructor) but I still hope that FFG reprint them in the future. In my opinion regarding Talisman (which has lots of fans and language versions around the world) better than short time promotion is made some Collectors Editions with all of the nostalgia cards...

Indeed.
It hurts a lot if a game is not complete..
But you can print the image so that you can use it in your games at least..
But it will never replace a real official card..

Hi Velhart,
Of course I printed both cards and stick them to the original cards - (I bought second time base game beacuse in my country first edition have some fakes...) but the cards are thicker than the rest so if you look carefully you can check where they are... So as you say nothing replace official card. No one wants to sell them - they are not available on e-bay (any language version). I believe that FFG will reprint them in a short time - it is good to know that there is a product which thousads of peaople wants to buy - especially when crisis is all around
.
in germany wehre is promo cards only in essen 08, but after the realeased of the game and the reaper expansion not manny get the cards.
there was no plan clear plan to give the cards away. only maybe you got the cards from the co publisher pegasus if you oder there. but i have not heared that.
but on amazon was a englisch copy for selling 133$ in geraman the game cost somtines 25$ now it is up 32$

Egh, yeah I too would HATE random booster packs or anything like that. I like the current system; one big box expansion with a corner board, then a smaller expansion, repeat. Once we get 4-5 corner boards maybe they could come up with other gimmicks for the big boxes like an overlay board for the Inner Region. Other than that I like the system the way it is. If they want to make some of the smaller expansions more like what TI said, aka a mix of like adventure cards, dungeon cards, etc I would LOVE that, as it would be sad if we never saw another Dungeon card.
I don't think people would complain either, even if they didn't have the Dungeon expansion, or whatever expansions they needed for other card types. I mean, if it was that much of a bother for people like that, then they can just avoid buying that expansion like they did with the Dungeon expansion. Or they can set aside the extra cards. For the rest of us, it would keep ALL the decks of the game growing which I think is important going forward.
Once they've released four corner boards, a small box of cards with extras for all four corner boards and some spells and perchance teh odd adventure card, would be awesome.
However, what I'd really like to see, once they're done with boards and the like, is a "Collectors' Box". That is, a box sized to hold everything, all the boards, cards, figures, counters and such from all the expansions. It can include a combined rule book, with all the errata, printed versions of the web-released endings, and anything similar that hasn't been released, and other such goodies.
I know that those who own the FFG version have less need of this than those of us who own the BI version, but once you have four expansion board and all those cards and figures, it's going to be messy.

I am already happy if we get a card collector box for holding all the cards ( or at least a lot) for talisman.
I am sure, that we don't have room anymore for cards if the next expansion will come.
And the inlay will probably be the same as the dungeon..
This troubles me a lot..
A card collector box with some nice artwork on it, will fix the problem. I think that most people will buy it

Hi Matt,
I would love too, to see some more dungeon cards.
Or cards such as Dark Denizens, because the main deck will grow bigger and bigger
Then they can add the 3th edition trapdoors too !
Or maybe some goblin scouts. If you draw them them on the mainboard, then they will shout, and you must draw another dungeon card to see what will come
.. Just a idea..
The goblin march..

I dunno, personally I would be happy having it too... however now I'm using a big box and I'm not sure if I would put inside all meh homebrew stuff inside of the official collector box. But would be nice, if they would include in it printed versions of all the promo cards released until releasing the collector box (both original only and internet only) as well as some additional collectors-only cards, few characters (like always they never gave us more Characters than few...) and completely new cards.
Check Talisman Island!
