I agree with this. I got mine yesterday, and it looks way harder compaired to the outter and middle areas. I'm thinking of a house rule. You win the game by beating the Lord of D. not the normal way up.

Ugh. So anybody who makes it to the end of Dungeon and has Finger of Death, Fireball, etc. will get a free fluke win ? IMO, if the choice is between two goals 1) get Talisman, make it to the Crown or 2) defeat LoD, the latter is 100x more easier. There is no Shatter/Acquisition/etc. of the Talisman at Pits/Werewolf to worry about, Transference doesn't hinder you one bit.

The Pits and Werewolf are easy AS! The hardest part of the inner area is rolling three dise under your stengh/craft.

The fireball can't be used aginst the LoD, if I remeber the rules and spell right. Also, there would also be the rules were you have to kill it (as in you can't use spells or objects to kill/miss it). A real Fight.

I think you can cast fireball as normal.

Only followers, spells and objects that fight in a characters place is not possible + you may not evade him

Lord of Darkness is Fingerofdeathable for sure (mentioned in the example in the manual), so we consider it Fireballable too! Having similar spell and a turbo magic carpet could be a way to win a tresaure early

The Assassin is advantaged: he can do his dirty trick on LOD,so he needs 1to6 less counters and his exit from the dungeon is 1to6 more near to the crown!

Other players must use the brute force (counter building) but this seems to take too much time: long before being a match for LOD (12/12), you can aim to inner region (before your opponent does! )

Wizard + Teleport & Finger of Death could win in 3 turns . Roll a 6 to move to Ruins, next turn enter, following turn Teleport to the end, Finger of Death, done and done, 2/5 statted Wizard wins, "woot".

A dirty mind is its own reward.

No, I was talking in terms of akuma's suggested house rule that killing LoD = wins the game.

just it was funny the idea of scoring a Guinness world record, and getting robbed on the podium!

I don't go into the dungeon until i have a stat at Least level 6 (with or without weapons), lower, and  (in my case) you are going to get thrashed!!! The monsters in the dungeon are insane, but at the same time, you will level alot to make up for it if you live. The lord of darkness is very strong, with 13 attack at least and 18(!!!!) at most, but he is beatable. Getting the treasure card and teleporting (even the crags or forest is useful as their near the sentinal to get to the middle reigon). Also the items in the dungeon are just plain powerful, soul drinker and sheild of faith come to mind cause the sheild works on psycic combat to. The extra challenge is defienetly fun though.

Ziggy was here!!! but tell no one...or the dice gods will turn on you!

You guy's missed the bit were I wrote you can't use spells to kill it. So, no finger of death or any other spell to help.

Can. From the Rules:

If a character kills the Lord of Darkness without resolving an
attack (such as by casting the Finger of Death Spell), the character
must use the “0” result on the Treasure Chamber’s chart.

At least you can try to get a treasure card by using finger of death

So if you use fireball, you can try to win a treasure card by killing the LOD But it was not a normal fight so you must use the 0 result

Exactly, point for Wizard was getting the Owl. With in in the 4th turn, it's the walking God. Then he will enter the Dungeon again, with the Owl will walking only at safe spaces, somehow will gather enough Craft or Strength to fight against LoD, then will take anything, Wand of Dragonfire or Book of Lore, eventually Ægis and we don't need to continue the game...

So you call the Wizard with a Clockwork Owl  a walking god

More or less Clockwork Owl gives limmited teleportation. Always. With Ridding Horse and/or Cloak of Feathers You're rolling the die for the movement only because of habit.Check, You're taking the Owl, then after few rounds You're going to the Dungeon again for the Cloak. Few rounds later You're in CoC (always can reroll for the move, You chose, where You will move, with Craft 5 (after few rounds probably greater) You can open Portal without problems, then use the Cloak to teleport to the CoC). Then, You're spending 50 turns to kill all characters..

So actually you can use the cloak of feathers in the inner region to skip all the trails there and getting transported to the crown of command without a talisman.

It's better than the transference spell

That means that you can win the game if you have cloak of feathers..
