I don't think anyone is burying their heads. We're just not choosing to think that it is automatically going to fail. Many of us feel that the guys are going into this, having taken lessons from the past, with an eye on trying to meld everything so it works well together. Whether or not it actually does only time will tell, but I'm not going to go into it thinking it either can't be done or will not succeed.

Incidentally, I would prefer that what people take away from my comments is not 'The Jedi Game Is Gonna Suck' but rather 'I hope that if, or as I clearly believe WHEN, it becomes time to choose between prioritising making the game they are currently working on better or ensuring backwards compatability with the previous games, they choose to make the game they are currently working on better.'

And that two and a half years is a heck of a long time to wait for Jedi, and maybe they could do something to bring that forwards a bit.

The concern is not that Jedi will suck, it is that many do not want them to eclipse other character archetypes as has happened in the past. Many of us want a game where all types can play together on a level playing field. I know many think they should outshine other characters, but just as many think they shouldn't. So if waiting a longer means we are more likely to get a balanced game then I can wait.

I agree. I just kinda think that the ideal isn't to choose who gets what they want, but to make separate games so each group can get what they want.

But beyond that, IF it becomes apparent over the next two years of the game being out in the wild that the system in Edge of the Empire just isn't very good for playing Jedi without major tweaking, would people rather they release a system that isn't very good for playing Jedi but is backwards compatable with Edge of the Empire, or a system that is good for playing Jedi but isn't very backwards compatable with Edge of the Empire?

FFG are going to make the game they want. Whether or not that is the game some people want remains to be seen. And they are making more than one game in that there will be three core books. So people who want to just play Jedi will get their book when it comes out in a couple of years. How well it all meshes only time will tell. I don't think they should try to please everyone by making an uber-Jedi book just to appease those that want it. I like the idea that they are endevering to put out different books that will be compatible allowing players to cherry pick the aspects that they want. I think a majority would like this and it seems that FFG are directing their energies in this direction. I think it would be detrimental to split those energies otherwise.

Someone could always try to answer that question with something other than 'I hate Jedi. I wish I never had to hear the word Jedi ever again. But if they absolutely must do Jedi they should suck. And if it comes out in two and a half years time when hopefully everyone has forgotten about it, so much the better'.

Most people are content to wait for the Jedi. I haven't heard anyone say they hate Jedi. Some rabid fanbois want there uber-Jedi now and to hell with everyone else. FFG will release the books as they see fit. Like it or lump it or whine about it. Your choice.

It's a good thing that no one said that, then. Except for you, of course, just now.

So people wouldn't object in principle if a way was found to get Jedi in to peoples hands sooner than two and a half years? Especially given the challenges involved in ensuring that a bottom up system doesn't break at high levels, or that almost all systems will require patching after contact with the real world, so it makes sense to start on that as soon as possible?

Seriously, give it a rest.  Please.  Anyone who has even a passing familiarity with these boards is completely familiar with your opinion on the subject of Jedi-Jedi-Jedi.  Continuing to bring it up at the drop of a hat (or anything else for that matter) just gets on peoples' nerves, and serves no useful purpose.

See, Star Wars Detours isn't happening. The 3D versions are shelved. The Clone Wars may be getting cancelled. 1313 is on hold.

Stuff is changing. I have no idea if FFGs stuff was negotiated with the knowledge that the sequels were coming, or if it is another thing that might get shelved as the previous regimes projects are discarded for the new direction.

The only factual statement in that tirade is that the 3D versions have been shelved to allow the Lucasfilm staff to focus on Episode 7.

Star Wars Detours is in production and still slated for 2013 release.  Note a specific month hasn't been stated, just 2013.  A quick Google search will bring up several links discussing this series, including IMDb and Wookieepedia, and there is zero mention of the series being cancelled.

On the Clone Wars, the series has had five seasons, which in today's TV market is quite an accomplishment, especially for an animated series.  And much like any TV series, there's always been the risk of the show getting cancelled after the end of a season.  And given how Cartoon Networks execs tend to have their heads up their asses (see cancellation of Justice League Unlimited, Young Justice, and Green Lantern Animated for starters), it's a surprise that Clone Wars has lasted as long as it has.  So any talk of that show being cancelled right now is just baseless rumormongering.  Dave Filoni seemed fairly confident of at least one more season with his fairly recent remark of "there's still more stories to tell."  About the only real change that's projected for the series is that it'll be leaving Cartoon Network and heading over to Disney XD.  It's also been doing pretty well both in terms of ratings and moving merchandise, so it'd be rather foolish of Disney/Lucasfilm to can the series on a whim.

Same with why 1313 is "on hold."  There's been no official word from LucasArts or Disney on the matter, just rumors from an alleged "inside source."  And there's also been rumors that the delay is more to wait for the next generation of gaming consoles, of which the PS4 was just announced, the delays could be less to do with the new Star Wars movies and more to do with wanting to produce a game for the top-of-the-line gaming consoles which are going to be capable of much more in terms of graphics & processing power than the current waning generation of consoles.

Obviously no one can say what will happen beyond the contract period, but I'm sure FFG will produce what they can as best they can while they have it. And all things going well, they could have an option to renegotiate for a new contract if they are meeting expectations. So, as per usual, only time will tell.

Every forum needs their Chicken Little. The funny thing is that they don't care if they are wrong or right. If they are wrong it is usually something good or great anyways, so it is all right that they were wrong. And if they are right then they get to proclaim how they called it and said it would happen, thereby increasing their status, if only in their own eyes. Beyond that I find them entertaining.
