Posting Your Results (Optional Information): Cards from 3 x Core + all other packs up to and including TWITW. The strategy is to use Aragorn's ability to soak up the Troll's threat while he kills allies and you draw a Forest Snare or Gandalf, and then blitz through stages 2 and 3 in two turns. This can work very well but it is vulnerable to other nasty enemies coming out of the encounter deck and engaging while you deal with the Troll - hence I haven't managed 3 wins in a row yet.

Giving Háma a little love. I made an all Rohan deck, and tried the new hero. It goes pretty well taking care of the bad guys of the quest (Hill Troll, DG Beastmaster, Marsh Adder, Goblin Sniper…). But I always went short of cards in my hand. I didn't felt at ease with it, and couldn't use it all that I wanted. I have to pair him with Beravor or Bilbo.

Changed Théodred for Beravor to get card advantage over resource advantage. Worked better, but I missed the later.

Comments: game 1 went really well, managed to kill 2 trolls as well (second one during second stage), game 2 I got bad cards all game long. Third game was really tough form the beginning, with the second troll coming right away in the first turn. Once I reached threat 30 after 2 rounds I managed to keep 1 stalled using feint and returning him to staging area, got to kill them both but with the location that increases your threat of an additional point out for several turns, and then another one came out, plus the inevitable attacks from the second troll before killing him got me to 50 threat before I could complete the first stage.

This is my first entry for this living tournament. Before moving on with my story of my games, I'd just like to thank juicebox for setting all of this up. You're awesome for putting in this work to maintain this. I've been watching your efforts since you started the first player tournament in December or so and I wanted to try at the time, but I didn't get the time and am only coming around now to devote some time into the game.
Anyway moving on, this was actually my fifth try at entering scores for this quest. My other tries had losses in them and thus I didn't want to submit them and was vigilant on finding a good deck to tackle the quest. This deck consists of mostly the core set, but has a couple cards from expansions.
Nearly all of my attempts had this same problem where I performed well in a game 1 and game 2, only to get demolished in game 3 within the first couple of turns by bad draws. In this attempt, it was similar with a fairly easy game 1, a slightly difficult game 2… and then game 3 came.
In game 3, my initial encounter draw was a Beastmaster. A very rough one to start with, but not impossible to deal with. However on the first turn I had a bad initial hand. I thought, it's okay as I have a few turns until the Hill Troll comes my way. So during my first staging phase, what do I get? The 2nd Hill Troll. I let out a huge sigh knowing that once again, I have a failed game 3 attempt coming my way. Of course though, as you can see with the game results, I did not give up…
Okay, so I had a couple of turns before the Hill Trolls would attack. If I could get at least one Forest Snare, I think things could be manageable. A couple of turns come by and no, it didn't come. They arrive and let them kill off basic fodder like Snowbourn Scouts. I still hadn't even dealt damage to the Beastmaster and just let it keep hitting Gloin for resources and kept healing him with a Daughter of the Nimrodel. I kept throwing out allies onto the board, and even had Gloin defend against a Hill Troll once with Protector of Lorien. Around 4 turns in, I run out of allies, and at this point have 5 enemies on me. Gloin started defending against multiple enemies with the help of an Erebor Record Keeper who would turn out to be one of my MVP's of the game and constantly controlled the amount of damage I would take with Protector of Lorien and Daughter of the Nimrodel. I wasn't even killing enemies at this point. I needed help!
… and of course the ultimate turn around came. I had drawn not only one, but two Gandalfs with Beravor's help. With a Sneak Attack I had from the start, and a Forest Snare to finally control one Hill Troll, the comeback had began. I had Gandalf start taking out weak enemies like the annoying Wargs and Misty Mountain Goblins while Gloin just defended everything insight. Gandalf didn't actually attack anything, he just used his damage power as he had to keep defending against enemies until I finally drew a second Forest Snare to snare up the other Hill Troll. Between turns 5-9 would turn into a long series of back and forth as I almost kept drawing enemies, however I was able to play Gandalf many times. Eventually the weak enemies dwindled but I still had to deal with Ufthak who at one point actually defeated Gandalf.
After Ufthak was taken out, I could start hitting a Hill Troll for small damage. Enemies started to show up less and less and finally by turn 12, the board was empty. From there it only took me 2 more turns to finish the game with no resistance. The "ambush" at stage 3 of the quest was simply two sets of crows.
Not sure how much you can get out of my description there. When the comeback started, I had wished I was doing a turn-by-turn history of the game to show just how perilous the fight was. During those first 10 turns, many beings died. Every turn felt like it was about to be my last but I kept clutching it out. I would try for a better score, but I've played this quest over 10 times around and I want to just move on with another one.
Sounds like an epic game. Anduin still holds up as one of the best scenarios in my view. I'm curious as to how you handled the massive threat gains from multiple Hill Troll killings of allies over a long game, particularly as you used Gandalf for damage not threat reduction. Did you manage to get off Galadhrim's Greeting multiple times?

I had to make use of the resources I did have. I had Gloin with Protector of Lorien keep defending against one Hill Troll and kept pumping his defense up with cards that were fed to me by Beravor with Unexpected Courage and Gleowine. The other Hill Troll would fight fodder allies and my threat did go up to around 42-45 before I was able to Forest Snare a Hill Troll and allow Gloin to keep defending the other. Gloin would also do double duty with defense with the help of Erebor Record Keeper to defend against a low attack enemy on top of the Hill Troll and managed his health with Daughter of the Nimrodel and made sure nothing would go wrong with the shadow effect cancel card (which I forgot it's name).
I can't update my previous post, so I'm updating my score here:

A lucky one IMO; I get strength on intial hand, and Gandalf showed up 4 times, 1 to damage troll, other 3 to threat; I get a Galad Greets as well, so really everything goes good.

Everything goes well here: Gandalf showed up 3 times (2 via Sneak – 1 kill troll, 2 reduce threath), Faramir comes, one Galad Greets showed up as well; No problems after a mulligan, encounter deck helped me a bit with a lot of treachery without effect, my best result ever.

Threat Cost of Each Dead Hero: 0
Damage Tokens on Remaining Heroes:3 (1 on each)

First time I beat the scenario without Gandalf showing up. I get 2 Galad Greets, and a UC on 4th round helped me a lot with Dunhere. I stay on 2nd quest only 1 turn with a quest of 33 after Astonishing Speed (here, to be honest, I do not need to send Dunhere; if I do not quest with him, problably I will make the scenario in 9 rounds… good for my experience).
My decklist:
3 Snowbourn Scout
3 Guard of the Citadel
2 Dunedain Watcher
2 Faramir
3 Dunedain Mark
2 Steward of Gondor
2 Sneak Attack
2 Valiant Sacrifice
3 Escort from Edoras
3 The Riddermark's Finest
3 West Road Traveller
2 Eomund
2 Lorien Guide
1 Northern Tracker
3 Ancient Mathom
1 Unexpected Courage
2 A Test of Will
2 Hasty Stroke
2 Astonishing Speed
2 The Galadhrim's Greeting
3 Gandalf
2 Song of Kings

This one was hard. I had to dealt with all cards that bring victory points. Asfaloth helped with locations, Gandalf with Hummerhorns and multiple strength of allies together with Aragorn and Glorfindel with the rest. I have never played stage 3 of this quest so long.

Sword that was broken + Faramir = excellent questing. What an easy game!

2 East Bights in stage 1 and no Asfaloth came. Moreover, I started with Light in first and Steward in second round but without Gandalf. Finally, in round 5, Troll was killed by single attack of Aragorn, Glorfindel, Theodred, Haldir and Mirkwood Runner. I was very lucky for the rest of game since only weak enemies and treacheries showed up.
