I will have to agree with you, and respectfully disagree with old WotC bud PloKoon. "Kiddie cartoon" it may be, but it's also both films & tier 1 canon. HOWEVER, I also think it needs to wait until a fair set of OT material is produced. Elsewhere, I suggested no less than the Y-Wing, A-Wing, B-Wing, TIE Interceptor, TIE Advanced (Vader's) and Millenium Falcon before moving on to the likes of droid fighters, Aethersprites, Naboo N-1s and so forth.

Whatcha think?

Thus do I undo all Gordian Knots!

Doesn't matter if the films are Tier 1, The Clone Wars is massively marketed toward the kids now. Plus were still lacking in pilots and squadrons. Droid fighters especially don't have pilots since the fighters are droids themselves and I have never seen a single famous squadron of them like Rogues, 181st, etc.

True, droids have no pilots or famous squadrons, but the X-wing cards at GenCon also had generic pilots, like Ace and Rookie. There could be droid fighters labeled as Basic and Advance to counter that.

However, even though I just defended the idea of including Clone Wars fighters eventually, I still think that since the name of the game is "X-wing" it just feels better to stick with the original trilogy. I think with prices the way they appear, that even if Clone Wars fighters are released I'll probably have to pass them up . (Though a V-19 Torrent would be awesome!)

Some people play to win. I play because it's one of the few ways to fly an X-wing here on Earth!

I'm thinking that when that time comes, there will be a second "starter."

The N-1 and the big silver royal cruiser thingy with four engines are really the only designs I like from the prequels.

And anakins custom starfighter from the Tartakovsky cartoons wasn't entirely unattractive.

I dunno. I got in to Star Wars for plucky rebels fighting the Evil Empire.

The Clone Wars are an entirely pointless conflict (in that both sides are working for the same man) fought between droids and clones. I find it... Hard to get involved.

Sooooo . . . somehow I missed this thread. It's been two months since the last post and I just noticed it now. Anyway.

I like the Clone Wars, and I'm not necessarily a 2nd generation SW fan (I was born a year after ROTJ was released). I have seasons 1 and 2 and plan on buying season 3. That said, I can't say that I'd be all that excited about Clone Wars starfighters. On the one hand there's the argument about pilots, and as others have mentioned it would be odd for a game called "X-wing" to branch into other eras, but for me it has more to do with detracting from other potential OT era EU ships. What about the E-wing, K-wing, missileboat, gunboat, and TIE Defender? These are all ships I'd like to see before the CW ships start coming out. But what I would really love to see is the Mist Huner and Hound's Tooth (or at the very least a Nashtah Pup). If they're opening up to light freighters by incorporating Slave I and Millennium Falcon, why not? (The answer to that, of course, is the lack of popularity.) I understand that those ships take away from the dogfight feel for some people, but I would really like to see them in a miniatures game. I feel like if they open up to CW, all chances of seeing those iconic bounty hunters' ships will go down the sarlacc. So my reasons are completely selfish.

At least it would have been news, even if it wasn't about OT ships.

 I KNOW!

Though I confess my pulse quickened a bit at the thought of Naboo N1 fighters, 'cause I really love those...

This game has not even been put out to the playtesters yet, so it will be a bit still...
