No lets talk about stylish points the ones that come at the end of lovely footware, and brought to us by a true spammer and consumate lady, miss jocelyn who only sought to share with us the joy of designer footware. Yes I wasn't going to migrate the footware thread despite my affections for it but spammers need to be shown the propper way to enagge in such a dying art.

Oh great, the bots are here. With the amount of moderation on this forum it will be horrible.
Abominable intelligence indeed.

Guccis are so overpowered. Their bolt sandals pretty much nerf Astartes boltshoes, especially with manstopper socks.

In what vessels did they pour forth their polluted essences, in what form did they hope to subjugate the universe, with whose hands do they, even now, reach across the frontiers of space in vain aspirations of conquest? It is both obviously and painfully clear that it is WE who they venerate; they wish nothing more than to be like us, to be like Him whose children they envy…

From where do you get the Thrones to buy this sort of stuff anyways? My bodyglove is a cheap child-labor noname imitation from some Forge World in the eastern fringes. I don't even want to think about what sort of hazardous chemicals it might contain.

Alright we may all be arguing over the 'realism' of the stats for Gucci footwear, has anyone thought ask one of the writers what they were thinking when they penned the stats? I mean come on, how do you justify pen 6 for stilletoes?
Are you telling me that they have the same penetration value as a home made molotov cocktail? That is just ridiculous.
(it often amazes me how much enjoyment you can get out of spam bots if you just try hard enough)

Ever had your foot stood on by someone in stillettos? Deffinately Pen 6 for my money, and probably tearing as well!
Personally I'd house rule that shoes with odour eaters in would soak molotov damage anyway

Seriously though, have you tried Vortex Caltrops? Or a Daemon, I've fond the weakness with these are the soles, so Daemons are pretty good at undermining them. Failing that lure them with a sensual peticure unless all your players are Chemgeld you should at least be able to get one off. I also had them go to a Japanese styled world where eveyone had to remove their footware before entering any buildings and had the big end scene in such a building to finiely catch them out! Be creative you'll find a way!

My associate, Commissar Cain, tells me that Gucci’s commissarial boots are very durable and perfect for running. I guess a Hero of the Imperium such as Cain needs the best footwear the Imperium can provide when charging headlong into combat.

I am slightly concerned as a Gm that there is not enough appropriate footwear options for my bad guys and xenos creatures. Do I have to house rule all of this stuff or is there going to be a proper supplement. I mean why are we botehring with Rogue Trader when this huge gaps still exists in Dark Heresy. I say scrap RT and work on something worth while.
I have a whole heap of cultists who require appropriate footwear so that they can even attempt to challenge my players range of style/lethatlity. Alsoo who decided that a stilleto has a range of 3 meters, that must be a typo!

Did anyone even stop to think about where Gucci shoes fit into the lore? I think only Dan Abnett's horrible lore-raep of a yarn could put Gucci shoes into 40k! And now you're telling me we're getting Gucci shoes in Dark Heresy too?! Not on my watch! I'm quitting this stupid game and making my own GURPS/BESM/True20/Feng Shui/WoD/Gumshoe 40k conversion!

Um Gucci's have been part of 40K since waaay back! Go get your copies of 'Ere We Go! Yeah remember Power Armour wearing Orks? Guesse what the Ork Pirate on page 16 of Freebooterz is wearing? Yeah and spats too boot! You may not be able to see the Guccis too cleary 'cause the artist had trouble with depicting 41st millinuem style footware, I'm also pretty sure the Sensi in Rogue Trader is wearing Guccis, you need to get your facts straight! I forget which one but in one of the old Ilumination articles in an old WD they were talking about diffrent boots and footware and I know they mentioned Guccis! If I have to I'll email John Blanche to find out which one its was!

Heresy! Those weren't gucci on the Orks, those are clearly Prada! Why? Because Prada looks better in red, and as we all know - the red 'uns go... P.S. Pffffft, if the sensei are the only way the 40k writers could fit Gucci into the universe then I say it's not worth the paper it's printed on, and we're better off without either of them. P.P.S. In the grim darkness of the far future there is only Doc Martins. |

Pfft. This isn't roleplaying. This is simply wargaming and lining up the bad guys to rack up xp for than next 'advance.' All this metashoe stuff really depresses me really...i mean this is roleplaying not tactical wargaming. I use shoes to advance story and plot. I suspect from your comments its used in your games for ego trips and steam venting (here perhaps i presume too much). Fair enough...if you and your group enjoy that more power to you. I'm sure that style is (disappointingly) in the majority for most gaming sessions and groups, and the approach i favour in a minority. Such is life... |

Why only a female shoe? You don't think Battle Brothers should have an equivilent atlternative? With what GW is doing with things these days it won't be long before a small 500 point Adeptis Soratis force can take a 1000 point Marine force, really these SoBs are getting all the swank gear these days, they have better jump packs, the 'same' power armour, the same bolters, bloody Living Saints (heck SM don't even get they're Primarchs!) and now these Guccis! Do we really need more reasons for players of both the TT and DH to play Sisters?!

Comparing these Guccis to the ones in 40k canon is fruitless. The shoes worn by the Sororitas and Astartes wouldn't be available to acolytes, except under special conditions; the footwear in the DH rules almost certainly represent "civilian-grade" variants. |

Its the same with the Female Assassins line of foot wear... Sure they may LOOK pretty, but only those trained to resist pain, torture and death are allowed to wear them. And have you Ever wondered what Tech-priests wear under their robes? Some things are not meant to be known! |

Reading through these posts its obvious that most of you have no idea what you are talking about. Have any of you worn these shoes in real life? Well I talked to a shoe speicialist who happens to be an expert in all things shoey and frnkly most of the depictions of shoes DH are completely unrealistic. The desighners made absolutely no attempt to model in 'heel wobble' into the accuracy and precision of high heeled shoes.
And as for Doc martins have you ever worn them yourself? Even factoring in the advancements STC soles would give them they whre still way overpowered for what they should be able to achieve. The 'nerf you referred to is just bringing them in line with what they can realistically do. God sometimes I think I'm the only one thinking in this forum. |

Um, the Doc Martins compensated for that by being extremely rare. Not all STC-based items are rare after all (just look at the standard hab block design, or the lasgun, or some of the SM gear, etc); however, true non-knockoff Doc Martins are extremely rare in the Imperium. Firstly the sole and the toe of the boot were smelted out of solid adamantium according to techniques known only to the Tech-Priests of Mars itself and Gryphon IV (and we all know what happened to the latter). Secondly, each one had to be fitted to the individual. Thirdly, the Doc Martins - as you should well remember - run on ancient batteries akin to the power generators of personal void shields (the secret of their manufacture being lost probably forever). Finally, although like all Power Weapons the Doc Martins have increased Armor Penetration and have a chance to destroy the enemy's weapon on a successful Parry, the Doc Martins suffer from the Unrealiable trait (typically resulting from the user incorrectly tying up the shoe laces and angering the Doc Martins' Machine Spirit). I think given all that, it is not inconceivable for Doc Martins to be this powerful. You're basically wearing one-in-a-sector kind of item, that's finicky and irreplaceable. |

I agree with you RazorBoy. However like so many other things GW has 'retconned' the while Doc background fluff and I'm pretty sure if the Red Shirts are to be belived these will now be usable by not just Elties or HQ but even standard Troops although they may be raising the point value some. Like so many items in 40K where the background balances the item that's been completely ignored in the rules especialy in DH how many Acolytes have power, armouy / weapons? How many are running around with bolters? I mean really! I'm just fed up with GW I also herad there is going to be a 'new' race of some orangutang type xenos that just have Gucci & Doc tech out the hairy-orange-ass (except they can actually wear one min-shoe on each toe -- and their feet are prehinsle!)

On a more serious note. I was helping my wife generate her first DH character last night and when she read the list of starting gear and saw the only clothing her psyker got was "tatty robes" she asked if she got shoes. Because of this thread I found the question quite hilarious. Seriously though, I find the ommission of footwear more than just humerous. When wanting to buy clothes and seeing the variable price range and lack of any discription it seems like a gaping hole in the gear. Of course I understand that the Imperium is a vast place with an infinite amount of clothing styles, and it's up to the GM and players to flesh out the details. But, if there are prices and desciriptions for dozens of weapons, and various gear then there could be at least some kind of outline. Poor quality clothes cost X, good quality Y and high quality Z+. How can you recognize a starting PC? They are barefoot and wearing a quilted vest! ~lore axe |
