A game of space battles!

Hi everyone,
I recently received a commission for painting the Starcraft game and the expansion. I do not play the video game although I have a guidebook for it. Why are there 2 colors for each army (Zerg/Zurg? Terran, Protoss?). Are the sub-armies or factions? And does anyone have a guide to the colors of each of the factions? The BGG pictures do not help very much,

Correct. Each race has two factions. As for faction colour schemes, sadly I can't help much. Been ages since I played the pc game myself.
I did do a quick google search and came up with a forum thread on Boardgame geek. Those minis look about right when it comes to colour schemes.
