My brain stopped working and I need help on this one. Anti-Matter's power description states, "your ships as well as any offensive or defensive allies' ships are subtracted from the appropriate side's card." What does "appropriate" side mean? Does this mean that the Anti-Matter player's total at the reveal is reduced by the number of ships both he and his allies play? Or does this mean that Anti-Matter's opponent's total is reduced by the number of ships played by Anti-Matter and his allies?
Thanks for any assistance.
You are here on a matter of honor. I am here to see that you settle it honorably. There will be no back-stabbing, you will not throw your blades, nor will you use weapons other than those agreed. If quarter should be asked...

Appropriate side means that ships allied with Anti-Matter subtract from Anti-Matter's side, and ships allied with Anti-Matter's opponent (the other main player) subtract from THAT side.
Waiting for better Cosmic Encounter avatars (where's the warp?).

As an example. You put 4 ships into an encounter. Your opponent only puts one. You manage to get a total of 8 ships allied with you and your opponent also manages to get 8 ships allied. The end result: Your encounter card, minus yours and your allies ships (-12), against your opponents encounter card, plus his ship, minus his allies (+1-8=-7)

Now I'm tracking - thanks! I just started branching out from playing with the green (easy) races and am getting a little tripped up interpreting some of the rules. It's a great game but it occasionally makes my brain hurt.

haha. Yeah it can get alittle confusing at times. Back in the old days when we had the judge that could add extra winning losing conditions it got really complicated!
