A question came up in the game the other night regarding the timing of trading items between investigators. There was an investigator on a location that had a monster on it. Another investigator moved to that square during the Movement Phase. Can the two investigators trade items before the moving investigator must deal with the monster (by evading or fighting)?
In the rulebook it only mentions that you cannot trade "during combat" but we weren't sure the boundary of when combat begins when running into a monster during the movement phase.

You fight when you end your movement or try to leave a space with a monster. So entering the space with the monster and the investigator, trading and then deciding to engage the monster is okay.
A dirty mind is its own reward.
