The main problem is the slowness of the server. But I think FFG will or is adressing this issue.

My other complaint is the colour and background which hurt my eyes a little bit. Especially if I have to read quotes.

Yeah, the color isn't the best. Plain black-on-white works wonders. Black-on-brownish-yellow is also pretty good.

And the server IS way too slow. I came here to write that it took me a whole minute to get from the Board Games overview page to the Arkham Horror sub-forum, but now I have to say that it took a ful TWO minutes to load this thread!

Gadzooks, is it just me, or has the forum speeded up?

Yes, they upgraded the system today.  It was down for awhile when tehy switched it over.

hmmmm, it does seem a little faster - however, I still think there is too much graphic nonsense, and considering a lot of us are wireless these days, there should be the least amount to load possible. with lag times like this there is no way I am posting as much as I used to.

I miss my quick reply window. And the minimum posting words thing is annoying too.

New Gripe: Usually, on my Mac, I can right click on misspelled words (they automatically get a red underline whenever I type).  But, when I right click in this box, it brings up a cut/copy/paste options (which I can already do with command+X/C/V).  Thusly, a nice feature is supplanted with a less useful one against my will.  If I really want to spell the word right, I have to cut and paste it into another window, or use the Dictionary.

New Gripe: When I hit "Enter," my slider on the right resets to the top.  This is odd.

New Gripe: The friend finder didn't seem to show me "People in Colorado with Blue Moon," but just people in Colorado (ok, not really a Forum gripe, but it's in the package).

Theme Breaking Anti-Gripe Praise: I like the new layout esthetically.

Well still can't believe that FFG wanted to use this forum software over the old one.   The contract issues alone should have made a person stop and think that maybe it wasn't good from that aspect.

And not having the ability to delete a post..what is up with that ?  That seems like we are going backwards - since you can't even PM a person either unlike the old board.

I could go on and on....but this software just bites!

Yeah, in my opinion, readability is very bad. Such kind of forums do not need to be artistic, but functional. Even if at first sight, it seems nice, it is far from being pratical:

  • colours are not friendly for reading. The light grey over dark grey is a very poor choice, especially for the quotes
  • the spacing between each post is way too large. There is too much scrolling involved, and it makes very hard to follow a thread.

No really FFG should reconsider their forum design. And what I see is that it is a lot less popular than it was for the transition 1st-2nd forum version.

There is a way for you to preview your post.  Click on the first button on the button bar when you are writing your message (the one with the magnifying glass.) :)

Indeed! Thanks.

Now can someone also explain to me how to properly insert links (i.e. with a useful display name, rather than just displaying the link address itself)?

It seems all I can do is this: www.google.com (even though there's two additional tabs with strange options I find difficult to understand...)

Then I'd at least have the most basic functionality back.

Alright, I'll help you with that too :D

It's easy.  First you write the name normally : Google

Then, you select that name and you click on the little planet button in the button bar (the seventh-to-last one).

Then you enter the link in the "URL" field.  Do not type "http://", it'll be added automatically.

There you go! Google

don't google - give money to charity with your internet searches - use www.everyclick.com instead!

(i wouldn't normally post that sort of thing, but its for a good cause.)

Does anyone else get a "page can not be found" error as soon as they hit "publish"?

I get that everytime. The post gets published, but I have to go back to the forum page, then back into the topic I was writing to in order to see my own post.

Another quick question. Does anyone know where to go for a counter of how many posts you have made? I can get a list of all my posts through my profile, but haven't been able to find anything that just says (12 posts) or such. What increases your points? I realize I am not even 5% as prolific as ColtsFan (Go Eagles!) but I can't seem to get beyond 25 points.

Actually you are at 26 now

And it must be something on your side (browser settings maybe?) but the Publish button works normally for me (and most other people, I assume, since I don't hear them complaining) and brings me back to the thread I post in.

For the post count...  not sure it's shown anymore.

And lastly, the formula for points calculation is secret, but you get get some info about it there: new.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_comunidad_ventajas.asp, in the "Points = Prizes" section.
