Does it matter to you?

Do you select your characters or deal random?

What character in your group has most wins?

Pull from the subconscious and never give up on your dreams.

We always just give them out random, Talisman is all about randomness so I think it's in the spirit of the game to be ahead or behind even before you begin :)

With my new game the Wizard and the Elf (the Elf one time beating Prophtess and Warrior in a 3 player) has the most wins.

The Wizard is my favorite character at this moment, although  i have not play him yet against a opponent. I have only test the wizard how good he is

My opponent won the first game with the Wizard ! , but i have won the second game with the assassin.

The two losing characters in each round are. first the troll and the second one is the dark cultist.

The statistics are

1 Wizard / Assassin

2 Dark cultist / Troll

Wizard is tops.  He can best any character in psychic on turn one and always has a spell.  Prophetess is also good, but the lack of psychic means she can't take any good stuff from others.

Hehe, that actually happened today, Wizard was robbing Troll blind, but then moved 1 space away from Troll and drew Blizzard, for a 2-turn automatic ass-kicking by the Troll ! Also, Wizard's been in 5 games (out of 22) and has died 3 times before anyone got to the Crown. Today he died because he had Armour, 1 Life left and drew Storm Caller .

We give the characters out random, or 2 random cards and then choose one.

We take note of the victoies/games we play, to see wich character has the highest score:

we give a different number of victory points, based on the victory % due to the number of players:

if you play a 2 pl. game you have the 50% to win, if you play a 5 pl. game you have only the 20%....

so we give 10 victory points to the winner in a 2 players game, 15 v.p. for a 3 pl.game,

20 v.p. for a 4 pl. game, 25 v.p. for a 5 pl. game and 30 v.p. for a 6 pl. game.

This is the first positions score after 25 games:

1- MINSTREL: 10 media / 50 v.p. / 3 wins on 5 games

2- PROPHETESS: 10 media / 40 v.p. / 3 wins on 4 games

3- ELF: 8,7 media / 35 v.p. / 2 wins on 4 games

4- TROLL: 8,5 media / 60 v.p. / 5 wins on 7 games

Today, the third battle has been fought. It was a rematch between my Assassin Vs the Dark Cultist

We drew random cards ! I think it was their destiny to face each other again !

guess who won? The assasin of course again ....

So the statistics are:

1 Assassin :2 W /  0 lose

2 Wizard: 1 W

3 Troll : 1 Lose

4 Dark Cultist: 2 lose

Yesterday, we play the fourth battle!

It was the dwarf vs the wizard

It is unbelievable, but my dwarf has fight only 2 enemies in the whole game ! And has still a chance to reach the crown, because of his special ability. The other player did not have a talisman, and after i get 2 chances in the inner region, i landed on the portal of power. The other player took my talisman, and has run into the portal. In my turn, i have rolled a 4, and landed on the temple, and i rolled with 2 dice exact 10 ! So i earned a talisman ! But i was not strong enough to battle the wizard on the crown ,and i lost. It seems that luck has abandon me.  You can't always rely on luck you know;)

So the statistics are:

1 Assassin/Wizard:  2W/ 0 lose

2 Troll/ Dwarf:  0 won. 1 lose

3 Dark Cultist 0 won/ 2 lose

I like the new Dwarf with 5 Lives and high Fate. I saw him hold the ground against a 12 Strength Troll with just an Armour, 6 Lives and a total Strength of 9.

The Troll had 7 Lives and St.Josephine, for a total of 12 Lives to waste! He won the game after an endless and fascinating combat that last 40 minutes. The Dwarf could have won if it wasn't for the Warrior, that came on the Crown, attacked the Dwarf and took is last Life while the Troll had 2 left. Then the Troll turned the Warrior to shreds.

So far I have a strong inclination towards the Druid; it has become a strong Character with the new ability.

Troll, Assassin and Warrior look cool, but they are deadly only in other players' hands. I personally tend to draw only Spirits if I have Strength-oriented Characters.

A wizard is never too late. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to.

i love playing the ghoul, his abilities are fun, and he has nice stats, i have only won with him a few times though, but that may be that the people i play with are just more comepative than i am.

mmm i don't like the ghoul i think.

If you use a enemie as a follower, then you can't keep it as a trophie. It sucks i think..

It slow you down in my eyes..

But Ghoul can choose form of the combat. With 4 poins Craft at the start and taking the Enemy (strength) as followers he is good (but hard to play) character. Craft path in the Inner Region is the best solution for him. Think about strategy.

It's not only a matter of raising corpses. Ghoul basically doesn't need to increment his Strength and can take multiple Enemies at a time (though he uses only one per combat). This makes him not very powerful, but keeps him safe from the occasional Dragon, which should be immediately cashed for Strength if defeated.

At the Crown of Command Ghoul is usually a winner. The combination Psychic combat + life stealing is powerful, as I experienced many times against Trolls and Assassins with ludicrous Strength values. His very high Fate combined with Evil Alignment makes the Ghoul a competitive Character. If you can't do it without Strength, just go for the Enchantress!

I'm only disappointed that I had no chance to play the Ghoul in the revised 4th edition. I remember I scored a couple of sound victories with Black Industries 4th edition.

The minstrel is better with his followers. He can keep any follower and use one all the time.

The ghoul lose his followers after using it.

I don't think i will ever play with the ghoul..

This is exactly why I use "always random chars" (can redraw if used the same char in the previous game). No cherry-picking your favourites, no discarding random chars to draw another if you "don't like" that char, no draw 3, choose from those. You draw a weaker char than your opponent(s)? Boo-hoo, deal with it, make the best of what you have. Looking at pure stats for my Upgrade + Reaper games (29 so far), Sorceress would seem to be an utter suckage, with 0 wins and 6 losses, not to mention dying twice before anyone reached the Crown. Do I think Sorceress is a terrible char? No, she's just in a slump .

A dirty mind is its own reward.
