Well... this is a Board Game. So, personally, boards are what I'm looking for. When I want something 21st century I play on my Xbox 360...
x2.
I may be in the minority but, I always enjoyed the six alternate ending cards. That way, you couldn't be sure you were just going to get the COC and had to make sure you could face a 12 Str 12 Cr Demon Lord. Leave out the Horrible Black Void and alternate endings would be high on my list of additions.

No way!!! Horrible Black Void was the best ending! Regardless who drew it, it never failed to evoke window-shakingly loud laughter

A dirty mind is its own reward.

Heh. Ok, you have a point. The Horrible Black Void was great as long is it didn't happen to YOU...
I hope that fantasyflight make those cards.
I love it to see a different ending.
What do you think about if they made the tower again and a figure for each ending card or something
dragon king, the crown, maybe the lich king, or something else.
If it is not possible, then i hope they are only releasing the cards.
You can create so many things..
I didn't say "no boards", I said "more boards" ;)

yes the board is big, but the dungeon will be a wrap around much like 3rd edition.

Even a corner wrap board may not be convenient. They can be up to width of the Outer and Middle regions combined. With a corner wrap, that's extra width on the side AND end of the board. Space is going to continue to be a problem, and the differences between a separate board and a main board extension are minimal at best.
I don't suppose anyone can conceived of a new (rather than old) design option? Is there something more / else that might be considered? Honestly, though, I can't think of one.

I would love to have boards that wrap around, like the 3rd edition did. In fact, I wish/hope there is enough of them made like that to basically make a whole new region all the way around the Outer Region. That would be sweet. Of course I have a pretty big table to play games on, so space isn't too much of an issue.
I suppose i'd like a city and a forest expansion, maybe with alternate ways to winn (points?) and various methods to gain points (killing dragons, becoming famous champions/sorcerers/priests, and so on).

The city expansion for 2nd edition was generally a waste of time. The only reason to visit it was to become the high mage, spend money, or try to get into timescape. The rules were ridiculously complex (e.g. warrants), and the locations were too far apart, making the game run ever longer.
I'd love to see a city expansion which included a bunch of new characters (high mage, master thief, king's champion, and so on), a new city deck which sits on the city space, and some supplements to the purchase deck. A separate board isn't necessary, or should at least be very different from the 2nd edition version. Warrant cards could be fun--but the rules would have to be much simpler.
I agree, the city was a pretty poor expansion. Players only visit it to buy things or to become the over powered high mage or sherrif. It isn't worth spending turns moving around and drawing cards as the rewards are no where near as good as the main board and you run the risk of being arrested. It had a few decent ideas but needs some serious work doing on it.
Although I'm not a big fan of 2rd edition, I liked the way the realm boards fitted on but as the new board is so big then it just wouldn't work on a lot of tables.

I think more boards is too "old skool" and we're in the 21st century now, time for something a bit different
Hmm, I've actually slowed my Xbox360 playing down lately (tho I do miss The Last Remant and Infinite Undiscovery) to return to playing boardgames. I just bought 4th Ed Revised from Amazon (37% off) along with Runebound from eBay so my gaming choices are once again turing a different direction (they'll turn again to my PC once Diablo 3 is out.)
But I'm all for boards; the more expansion boards the better!! You can always play it on the floor.
And like someone else mentioned, this is board gaming which usually means a game board is involved in some form. I just dont want the 3rd edtion 3D boards, flat is the way. If I want a 3D gaming field I'd return to Warhammer miniature gaming.

I certainly think that extra decks for the City/Tavern/Chapel and Village spaces would be a great way to go.
I'm also thinking about alternate quests which would provide different (perhaps secret) victory conditions (albeit less consistent/more difficult to complete than reaching the Crown of Command, which should always be the principle way of winning).
I've already ready sorted out alternate endings to the game, I'm just considering how far to take it ;)

I remember playing the City expansion quite a lot and thinking it a lot of fun but of all the 2nd edition expansions it seemed to have the loosest and least playtested rules (and that is saying quite a lot). There was really silly stuff like if you took part in a combat, you had to draw another card after resolving the fight and if it was a watch event you had to fight them or get arrested. The thing was that it never specified whether, having won the fight, you had to draw yet another card... If you were the Sheriff you could move around the city at will, going to any location you liked and getting healed free of charge at the Royal Castle space. This was also daft as it meant that if someone was on the comand space they would never be able to kill you if you stayed within the boundaries of the city. Then you could go to the Timescape where nothing from the main board (including the comand spell if I recall rightly) could hit you.
If you were the Astropath or were fortunate enough to draw the warp belt card it was possible to stay on the Timescape board indefinately by moving to the time loop space over and over. If you had become strong enough by this point to defeat anything you might draw from the Timescape deck - and granted you would have to be very powerful to be so secure as there were some really nasty aliens in there - then you could effectively go through the deck again, and again, and again until you were far stronger than the crown space character (who under the rules was NOT allowed to move anywhere else), drew the Omnipotent Being card and rolled a 6 to teleport to any space in the game (ie; their space where you could smite their ruin at your leisure).
So really, the City and the Timescape were both silly and broken. The Dungeon was always a good laugh though, particularly as one of my friends developed an extreme fear of the Crawling Slime ("It creeps, it crawls!") and because people used to luck it through to the crown of comand with crappy starting characters all the time. If they were going to remake them I think I would rather they were seperate boards like the Dunwich and Kingsport expansions for Arkham Horror than the L shaped bits from 3rd Edition. I do think that the Mountain and Forest Boards from that edition were great though. Maybe they could both be on the one board perhaps...
