someone just emailed me that khopesh has been banned from tournament play. is it true that this tool of the talentless is really gone?? do i start the party yet??

Perhaps they're confusing the term "banned" with "restricted"? I can't see this card being banned. It's good, but not that good, and its effectiveness can be reduced or negated fairly easily.

You will find the restricted and banned card list in the FAQ. In the most recent version (2.1) it's on the second page, lower right-hand corner under the heading Restricted Cards.
