Ramming?
Published on 01 January 2013 - 07:41:05

I'm aware that ships don't really "hit" one another when their bases overlap like they do an astroid, I'm cool with that. But should they have a rule for a ship that wants to ram an enemy? With the bigger ships such as the YT and Firespray now I can see if you had two or three TIE fighters left and one who is almost dead maybe going kamikaze to try and take out Han or Chewie (if they were the only enemy left maybe this is much more do-able). But even fighter to fighter it should be possible to ram an enemy. Just wondering if anyone else thinks their should be a rule for this?

I've been thinking about some house rule ideas if anyone wants to hear them.

While it would be entirely possible to come up with such a rule I don't think it's in the spirit of the game. Allowing someone to just go kamikaze when they are about to lose in hopes of taking out their last opponent doesn't exactly seem sporting. Now, when we get up to large base ships (they have said that the Millenium Falcon and Slave I are medium) I might think of it as being a little more viable tactic.

I can't imagine that it's that easy for a small, maneuverable fighter to ram another small, maneuverable fighter if they have the whole of 3d space to escape to.  Even the falcon is maneuverable enough to avoid getting rammed.  I would say that only big, lumbering starships would be prone to kamikaze attacks.

They're actually calling the Falcon and Slave I large ships now (see the scan of the Falcon insert over in the main forums).

Will the medium ship rumor never die?
