Yeah I am kind of worried what these dice are going to cost. I like having a LOT of dice, all over the place. Specialty dice usually means "more expensive than normal". I mean even if they are $6… a reasonable amount of dice is going to cost me like $50 or more.
This is kind of why I am making my own set (though results so far have been dubious as any who watched that tread saw). LOL.

Had a thought.
What if it's a short series of adventures? Like an introductory "campaign"?
It's being called a 32 page Adventure Book. That does give me some amount of pause for thought. That could be worth $30
Yeah agreed. $30 is a dynamite price for this intro idea for sure.
$30 might be worth it for dice, adventure and the cool maps (they have destiny tokens in there too, but I see no photo of them). We will have to wait and see. I just have a feeling calling this a 30 page adventure might be stretching it a bit. Might be 10 pages of extra training/explaination. Of course… it might still be worth the $30.
If you take a look at the photo in the FAQ below the one you linked to you can see the tokens, one white with a combo advantage/triumph symbol and a black one with red lightning and a failure symbol.
For me, our shop is looking to run instore demo's of the game and the box set could be the way to go, giving us great looking components and character sheets that walk the players through the game. This was what WFRP 3e really needed, and again shows that although FFG don't always comment on theses boards, they do listen.

Definitely going to be getting this! I was a bit gutted about them selling out of the beta book before I could afford to get one, so this seems ideal for me. And dice and bits are always good to have!! Even though it seems to be the same adventure that will be included in the core rule book whenever that arrives, at least the releases should be spaced out enough that it won't feel too much like a waste of money.
Does anyone know if the core rule book, when released, is going to be just a book, or will it be a boxed bonanza like Warhammer 3e?

I think that this is great, if I can get it in the UK without the massive postage cost. Damn FFG for making shiny products that I will need to get. (I think I have the addiction obligation.
)
However, I would be very grateful if FFG could come up with 2 additional pregenerated characters as my group usually runs with 5 to 6 PCs.

I realize it doesn't necessarily mean anything, but for adventures with the 40K lines, there are always a couple of extra characters in a downloadable PDF.

I'll be plunking my money down! A decent sized adventure, quality posters and handy images, and right around the corner!
If there is one thing I learned from the Paizo appropriation of all of us 3.x dnd players, is that if you consistently and timely release quality adventures and campaigns, you will succeed.

Oh, damn SKIPPY I'll be getting this - it's worth it just for the map! Plus, considering the hassle of getting blank dice from Chessex for the Beta stickers, it'll be great to have a set of (presumably) professional dice for the game (hopefully they are the SAME as for the full game). The adventure, no worries; you don't need to have access to the full spectrum of rules for an introductory adventure, anyway. And then, there's the spiffy, sexy BOX that appears to be pretty good-sized that we can start packing our Star Wars loot into. I simply adore boxed sets, especially intro/starters - they're pretty much always well worth the money, because the company is willing to take it on the chin a bit in trying to lure you in for the Big Money. This one looks great!
Thus do I undo all Gordian Knots!
You can count me in too! For only $30 we are getting so much in the box…Dice! Double-sided Map! Adventures and more! Even though we have all been plugging our way through the beta Core Rulebook, the Beginner version may help us understand some of the material we have not fully comprehanded. Even going through the Beginner Adventure could open new insights and give us a better understanding of the game mechanics. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands and this and pouring over all of it!

Hi Testers,
Just to answer a previous poster's question; the Edge of the Empire core rulebook will be a hardcover rulebook, with the dice sold as a separate pack. It will not be a boxed set.
Hope this clears up any confusion!

No Sam, there is no confusion. This thread is solely in response to the announcement of the beginner's box, not the core or any beta books.
But maybe to copy someone else's idea, the Core Rule Books for the One Ring, published earlier this year were in a Slipcase Cover, and tucked inside were the custom dice inside of a pullout plastic container.
Thanks for the clarification.

I am not a fan of the One Ring slipcase. The plastic tray scratches the top of the book, and continually wants to slide out and spill dice everywhere. I tossed the plastic tray, and now I am left with a too large slipcase that I'd rather not have and probably paid extra for. A hardback book and dice sold seperately is my second choice. A boxed set packed with maps and deckplans and dice and counters would have been my first…

I'll be buying the core eote rulebook whether it is paperback or hardcover, and it has been announced to be hardback. But solely, to be put inside my beginners box. I only mentioned the slipcase idea for those who seem to only want to invest in the core and the dice.

I am so buying this… well, I'm going to buy everything that gets released in the game line but damn this sounds like something worth having.
When is this coming out? Like, when can I plunk down my credits and buy it?
Oh… I think FFG should do a Sabaac Star Wars card game someday. It's spelled Sabaac, right? Or is it Sabbac?

Interesting:
I will likely buy the thing, because it does have some interesting doo-daws and will provide a better insight into how the Developers intended the game to run. I likely won't have any use for the YT-1300 specs because honestly - done. to. death. Still and all, looks promising:
Buuuut…one thing niggles at me. Dice. Yes, that old chestnut.
So…lemme get this straight. There will be dice in the beginner's box, but none can be sold now? I am hearing noises that the B-Box will be available for Christmas - so, there's what, three months and some change between here and there and the ONLY way to get ONE SINGLE set of dice right now and for the foreseeable future is to either A) Futz with the stickers B) Rush out and buy a smartphone or C) Buy the B-Box?
Guuuuyyyys….not good enough. I will say it again, dice (or Dice Roller App for Windows) should be available for separate purchase NOW. Not later with the final game, not with the Beginner's Box, now. The Beginner's Box, we need to keep in mind, isn't going to be as useful to us testing the game as the Beta Copy is, it will have a pre-gen adventure and pre-gen characters no doubt tested to make sure it all works. And honestly? Any game will hold up well if you drive it at 55 down the highway in mid afternoon. But for those of us dutifully beating the game against solid objects to see what shakes loose (ie: the playtesters, the people you asked to do this job and paid money to do this job) the B-Box is cold comfort.
Sorry to bring the rain, but there it is.

Thanks for clarification. This is kind of how it seemed when you read the bit about the differences between the beginner box and the core rules.
Thanks!
