Considering Deathwatch and Librarians (OK… I know that are Adeptus Astartes)… Force Sword… why not? On the other hand it is a significant weapon but Psyker himself is a weapon and a very unstabile one… don't you agree?

You have to take into account that Psyker element in any regiment is usually 1 to 5 of them on whole regiment if they even get them assigned by Adeptus Astra Telepathica… they are additional support specialists… like Kommissars and even rarer.

my question would be when you get access to a vast array of pwerful aabilities which noone else can get, why do you need gear? D&D wizards dont complain about their lack of heavy weaponry, and the sanctioned psyker actually gets armour.

definitely get the rules for the psy focus in (i thought thats what the staff was), but after that you only really need standard kit to get by. (also, with hardened fighters its not hard to give EVERYONE best quality swords)

Magic missile doesn't have a chance to kill you and summon a greater demon every time you cast it.

@Fenrisnorth & Grubisha

Really? When the weapons speciaists can snag melta guns, and the heavy gunners can get lascannons fairly easily off the start, especially if it's a favored weapon and someone has skill in commerce, A measly little force weapon is what you're worried about?

It's not so much their effects (though they are powerful enough - the opposed WP test can give you more bonus dice than Accurate), but what they stand for in the setting. A lascannon is a powerful weapon, but it's produced by the millions on forge worlds that have the tech. Every Force Sword is a unique weapon, hand-crafted from incredibly rare components. Their rarity says it best: Near Unique. The reason Librarians and Sorcerers get one at the start is because their games start at the equivalent of an 8000 XP Only War game. These characters are the best of the best - a beginning OW Psyker is just one of the guys deemed safe enough to probably attack the enemy instead of instantly peril and summon a daemon.

 True; but I still have zero idea what the hell a psy-focus is.

Quoted from Nolsutt:

You have to be a badass if you go to some random planetagree to go hunt dinsaurs naked without any fuss.

In my M42, Space Marines have balls, female Space Marines are called Sisters of Battle (and kick major butt), Chaos isn't STUPID evil,no one is a mindless battledrone except for combat servitors.

In Black Crusade, using a Psy Focus grants +10 to Focus Power tests.

Ahem.

(And hopefully, the Psy Focus will be added this week as the week deals with warpstuff and equipment)

 Until that update comes out, no one wil know what a psy-focus is. We can guess, and robably guess right, but in the end, is a guess none the less.

WE GOT IT! We have the psy-focus and a short description of what it could be, namely: anything. I actually like this as it allows for some cool fluff for your psyker.
