Game for 2 players

Hi.

I recently bought the game so I am still trying to get around the rules. The manual help but I am uncertain about how should a 2 player game be done. In the manual it makes a reference to a third neutral army but it is not clear for me. Can some one help on that, or let me know where I can find reference.
