You can now pick from three! Since the weapon specialist and Heavy Gunner both have default weapons plus at least one choice for a 'favored' weapon instead. Now you add a third option. Nice choices!

I find myself doubting that most regiments will waste a full 1/3 of their kit points on having a coupon for a future option available rather than actually getting something that's immediately useful.

Question from someone who only has access to the Beta; did they keep the "add one Favored Weapon to the group" option?

The OP for instance, he's took a Bolter as a favoured weapon allowing all of his WS's to start with them. To add that as standard kit (freeing up their FW for say a meltagun) that would cost 20 points (gm's discretion of course, i doubt it would be 8 points for every squad member to have a Battle cannon as standard kit) but if they had fair few WS's (a sergeant and 4 WS is a fairly standard squad) then paying 10 points to have the option of either the bolter or melta for the WS's (poor sarge gets nothing but the logistics bonus to pick them up later) is a better investment leaving enough for that carapace armour.
