Standard Attack vs Aimed…

Both are +10 and half action so… what's the point of there being 2 actions?

Just that "Aimed" possibly triggers other effects with weapons/talents/gear?

Seems redundant to me, unless Im missing something.

 - Obv. talking about the Half Action aim option here, not the Full Action one.

Cheers folks!

They're different actions, so you can Aim the make a standard attack to get +20 to the attack.

There is no problem that cannot be solved via liberal application of Force Blade.

Really? I thought that was the case initially, but that just seems… busted to me.

Yup. Aim is not an attack at all, it's something you tack onto another attack - you can move for a half action and then fire a single shot (+10) or you instead aim for a half action and then shoot (+20). Or you could move for a half action, then aim for a half action, then wait a round, then aim for another half action and then shoot (+30).

It only seems busted in a void, you have to compare it to other common options that PCs have access to (Semi-auto fire, Lightning Attack, etc)

You gonna get PURGED!

Well no I want considering it in a void. I was considering it in combination with all of that stuff plus range etc…

As a designer. If I wanted every single basic attack to have a +10 to hit, I would have just made all the characters shooting skill that much higher across the board and not given the basic attack mode the hit bonus. *shrug*

Either way, cool, sorted, cheers folks!

There are some talents (like mighty shot) and other things, that are influenced by BS/WS bonus, therefore they cannot simply be increased.

I think there's also the question of parity with tabletop and backwards compatibility with the older systems. An Imperial Guardsman in Tabletop has a BS of 3, so in the RPG that converts to something in the region of 30%, but *that* makes single shots very unlikely to hit (which was a problem in the earlier 40KRPGs).

+10 to hit for a Standard Attack, plus the bonus for Aim, leads to the rather pleasing consequence that BS30% translates to a 50% chance to hit, which is on par with tabletop.

Yeah, the system doesn't handle high Characteristics very well

Also I think you need to take aim action to get accurate bonuses from weapon? Or it was with the red-dot laser…

It's accurate. Red-dot is for single shot.
