2-player games: Hero player
Published on 05 June 2012 - 06:36:38

Hey!!!!!!!! First of all, the last time I was as excited about a game was when Baldur's Gate was about to release!!!!!! Now i'm reviving all these awesome moments about an upcoming game, it's awesome!

On to the question: Most of my games will be played 2-player, 1 OL and 1 Hero.  Do you think it'll be possible for the Hero player to control 2 Heroes over the campaign?  It would give more choice, fun and overall awesomness to be able to form a party with a Paladin and an Necromancer!!! :P

My guess is that it won't be a problem at all and could work exactly like MoM?

I think I can speak for at least 85% of the FFG fans that we're all excited for this game to be released.

To answer your question, I would have to go with a 100% yes that a player controlling a hero, in a 2 player game will have to play two heroes. Here is my proof:

Hero Limits

Similar to Descent 1st Edition, the monster cards show how many minimum players you need. Descent 1st Edition was a little odd showing that you needed 2-5 players (including the overlord) on monster cards. In the above image, the "knight" represents the number of heroes playing, being a minimum of 2 heroes. So yes, you're friend playing a hero will have to play two heroes.

I don't think anything other than overhead will prevent you or your friend from controlling 2-4 heroes at the same time.

But yeah, as with D1, it's minimum 2 heroes per game (or all 4 in RtL/SoB), controlled by 1+ players.

Are you aware Baldur's Gate and possibly Icewind Dale are getting HD re-releases on PC and iPad? ^_^

Maybe they originally intended that, but it's getting a full windows release as well.

I thought too, that the basic mechanics of this game sound a lot like Mansions of Madness!

Can't wait for the rulebook!

We fight until hell freezes over! And then we keep on fighting on the ice!
