Pre-ordered!
Published on 30 May 2012 - 18:07:43

Pre-ordered my copy of second edition + conversion kit from my local retailer.  (I have the 1st edition + all expansions so I might as well use all that material, right?)

Just thought I'd share.

Who needs poker when you've got DESCENT? Afterall, cigar smoke works well with dragons.

I really wish it'd show up on Amazon for pre-order.  I'm sitting on $100 in Amazon gift cards that I've been saving for this bad boy! (Plus the conversion kit, since I also have all the stuff from first edition.)

Only buy from Amazon if you're prepared to wait a few months after the official release day to receive it.  They're terrible (really, really terrible) when it comes to board games.

Want to use more expansion monsters in a RtL campaign?  Download my dungeon level loadout sheet.  Want more varied and interesting abilities for the heroes?  Have a look at my Craft cards!  After a more thematic Android experience?  Check out Android: The Directors Cut.  Tired of the same old plots?  Try The Directors Cut - Alternate Plots.  Want a different way to play BSG: Pegasus?  Look at Pegasus: Razor Cut.

I always buy my board games from Amazon. I've never had a huge problem waiting for them to be shipped to me. I'll admit I've never pre-ordered a board game from them though.

I think it's the pre-orders that are the main problem.

It's been on Amazon.ca for a while now (February?).

I've noticed a few things regarding preorders on Amazon: Amazon doesn't quite order/receive enough to cover every order, so if you're among the first to preorder, you'll get it in the weeks following official release. If you snoozed and many people ordered before you, you'll probably have to wait for the reprints to reach them a few months down the line.

FYI, I got MoM and the second expansion for BSG really quickly after release date.

I'm an Amazon Prime member and I love their service.  However, for certain things like large board games, I choose to support my local gaming store.  I'm not a store owner, nor do I know one personally.  But I encourage you to order this game through a locally owned retailer.  Time are hard, people. Support these guys, even if it means you need to wait an extra few days to get the game.

… Also, you can ask if they'll give you their promo figures. You might get lucky. :D

I'll be in Atlanta for a few months… Does anyone know a good boardgame shop there where I could get my copy before I return to Germany?

Or… a good online shop for boardgames :)

thanks!

Don't know about local Atlanta shops, but one of the best online board game shops in the US is Cool Stuff Inc.  (www.coolstuffinc.com). A note of warning, they also have this game listed as pre-order, so I have no idea how quickly they will sell out, as mentioned by someone else about Amazon pre-order policies.

 Thanks for the quick response!

I'll give it a try in a local store… Maybe I'll find one and even join the preview…
