For those who want to add ships outside what is currently available, there are the Micro Machine metal Titanium series and F-Toys.
Your best source for MM Titanium series ships will be Ebay:
F-Toys is a Japanese company. This is one example of there selection:
I have a few ships from each company… each are very nice and could be adapted to the X-Wing game.

The Falcon from the Titanium series and the Shuttle from F-toys are close to scale but the rest are not.
