My experience has been just the opposite. Every new edition of 40K that gets released, we get a group of disgruntled with the new rules and having their beloved armies nerfed or worse, made obsolete and illegal to play.
I for one welcome the next codec each year with relish, as we get 8-15 new players come in to check out WM/Hordes, and usually 3-4 of them stick around and keep playing. I'm hoping the same will happen for DW.
Locally, I'm far more afraid of the new WM expansion book which adds Collossals, giant Warjacks on Steroids. 4 of our local players brought some back from Lock & Load, and one of my DW demos Saturday was interrupted constantly by questions about Collossals. It was the worst Demo I've ever had, of any game, and took far longer (almost 2 hours) than a 100 point Zero-Hero game ever should.

That sucks…Better luck with the next one. It wil be interesting with WM as the new book seems to have expanded the Unloaded rules. I own 3 WM models and the MK2 book, but just can't get into the fluff. If WM's Unloaded ruleset is the answer to the larger game problem (ala Apocalypse) then Colosslas will have some real legs.
The wargaming market is hugely diverse right now and PP has played it masterfully IMHO…here's hoping FFG can do the same. Bring on the SSU!

Yeah now don't get me wrong, I think it's totally stupid on FFG's part to have released DW and awesome new SSU models… but no DW-SSU rules… nobody I know at my store plays tactics any more, DW only. /shrug
I think what most people forget (or never knew), the model release schedule is dictated by Dust Studios, not FFG. Perhaps the SSU were ahead of schedule. Either way, DW was supposed to be out last November/December. Here's hoping its delay was far longer than the Zverograd book will be.

Problem is, I dont think the studio has anything to do with Warfare specifically. So I doubt Paolo and Olivier could shed any light on it. You are right though, Paolo is fantastic and very approachable on the Facebook group.
IF FFG wants to be like PP they should get on this forum and acually communicate with the fanbase.
Their models and games are not the only thing that made PP so popular. They always made a point of having timely and candid communication with their fans/customers on their own forums. They would have never let something go this long without an official response of some kind to let people know the status/timeline for release.
FFG could do the same, even if the response was that the SSU book won't be out for a while, people would appreciate the communication. Simply remaining silent on an issue that is obviously contentious when you have a discusssion forum you could use to communicate with fans is poor form imho…

FFG used to be more open and many of the Devs posted regularly. That changed around the time that the Rogue Trader RPG came out, at least that's when I noticed the change. Due to production delays and the very open communication of those delays, the people on the forums started posting more and more ridiculous, obnoxious, vitriolic posts. At one point there were half a dozen twenty plus page threads that were nothing but toxic to the forum community. That lead to the current state of no communication. Basically the forum users brought it on themselves.
Unsurprisingly, when a company doesn't say anything, the fans don't get caught up in bouts of indignant nerd rage.

Maybe FFG could be open once again, at least with Dust players. Sort of like a trial run. I mean, we're generally a nice bunch in here. :)

Always up for a game of Dust Warfare & Tactics. If you're in the London, UK area, gimme a shout!

This is sad. So basically, angry nerds win? Sad.
@ Kommissasar Zeitsev - Agreed. Privateer Press is a shining beacon in customer relations and communications, the entire industry could learn from. In the case of some companies, their beacon is blinding sunlight, lol.

So total supportive post to FFG:
We want you to do well! Communicate well, and I'll stay on the train. I couldn't get into WM/H cause steam punk ain't my thing. Nazis with monkies and zombies! Love it. Keep the awesome rules coming, keep the awesome models coming, and be a responsive and communicative company and I'm in.
SSU is an opportunity until the delay hits September. I hope FFG plays this moment well, cause my sense is that Wargamers are looking for a great rule set, awesome IP and an involved company. Two out of three FFG do us well!

You can see the names of the 3 FFG moderators for this forum and if im not mistaken those are the names of the 3 guys that were at adepticon… point being they not be able to respond all that often on here because they are showcasing a game that only launched a few months ago and probably trying to finish and print the SSU book.
Dont forget they prob do read here a little… how else would they have know what to put in the FAQ a month after the game book dropped.
Actually, Mack was the main demo guy at AdeptiCon from what I hear, and he isn't a moderator of this forum (but probably should be). I'm guessing that first round of FAQs stemmed from questions asked him in person there, not posted here. Andy Chambers, while he was working on this project, is the only "official" person I've seen post regularly in these forums for any game in many years.
As far as book release time goes, unless FFG is very slow to update their Coming Soon page, it's months off, as it's still showing a status of: In Development. Their, "At the Printer" status states it takes a few months for a book.
My guess as to the delay? The Zverograd book got bumped so they could get the core book reprinted quicker. It appears to me that Zverograd DW may have been victimized by Core DW's success. Just a guess, and I hope I'm wrong on all counts.

This is an unfortunate, but very possible theory.
