From the game board displayed in the Description part of AGoT it seems the houses are:

  • Stark
  • Greyjoy
  • Lannister
  • Baratheon
  • Tyrell
  • Martell

So, they added House Martell from the 1st edition expansion and made it a default in the 2nd edition core game.  Nice choice!

However, I'm still waiting for the Houses Targaryen, Tully and Arryn.  Maybe they will add an expansion for those and make them addable and/or interchangable with the other Houses.

There are guys out there who feel like changing the perfectly balanced and working rules of a game for the heck of it, despite the considerable input from game designers that made a specific decision for a good reason.

Don't be that guy!

I doubt that they have intent to add houses Targaryen, Tully or even Arryn. Maybe if there was some version like 300 years ago, when Aegon started the conquest of Westeros.

The truth hurts.

it would be very nice to see an expansion coming out(and this could be very possible with FFG working on this title!) with Targaryen and other houses playable...maybe with a new map also to add to the first one!

but Targaryen were playable in the first edition of the game, isnt it? or my memory is "out of order"?

No, they weren't. No Targs in the first edition.

The truth hurts.

The new map from DwD makes an expansion viable for Targ.

Do anyone knows if Renly Baratheon will stand on the side of Tyrell's at last or it will be like in first edition, where he represented house of Baratheon? He led Tyrells to war and fought Stannis, so it's strange when they are on same side in the boardgame.

I see that rules answered my question. It didn't please me - I'm still thinking that Renly Baratheon and Brienne of Tarth should belong to the house of Tyrell, not Baratheon.

Renly never stood on the side of Tyrell. House Tyrell stood on the side of house Baratheon (who, they argued, was led by Renly).

Of course, but for game purpose it would be logical if he and Brienne would represent house of Tyrell. Stannis and Renly were fighting each other, so i feel quite strange, when they stand on the same side in the game.

There were five kings - Stannis, Renly, Balon, Robb and Joffrey - each one of great house in a game should have one of them (forget Martells, they are playing their own game of thrones :)), I suppose.

No, Renly rode with the Baratheon Stag sigil on his banners and he IS a Baratheon.

Tyrells joined his cause, that's all…

Brienne is from House Tarth of Evenfall  which rules the  island of Tarth in shipbreaker's bay and who's allegiance is sworn to Baratheons from the stormlands… Also, she loves Renly and therefore fights for him…
