Hello all!
As a new player - I'm always curious to see how others transport their miniatures collections to and from their LGS.
I've watched Drakkenstrike's review of the DELUXE Dust Core Set - including his CUSTOM Battle Foam inserts. (The review is AWESOME btw...)

My questions are:
1. Have any of you ordered these or tried the Battle Foam Dust Foam Inserts: the Dust Tactics Kit for Bag 432.
2. If not Battle Foam - what do you use to protect your painted minis as you transport them to your LGS, tournaments, etc.
I'd like to condense at least my one set of Original Core and Revised Core into one easy to transport system - without just tossing everything in one giant pile of stuff in a box; I think these miniatures, especially the tanks, deserve better lol!
Again, thanks for any and all feedback or suggestions!
Peace!

I use 3 core set boxes for all my stuff, but I do need a better system.

I've transported my game once, and that was while I still only had the Core Set.
I placed the large terrain tiles and books of the same size under the cardboard tray, and put the cards and cover items in their respective slots. In the larger section of the cardboard trays, I put baggies of my squads. I use the "dip" method for painting, so I have both a coat of polyurathene and a coat of dullcote on each miniature, so I'm not really worried about them being damaged if I store them this way. This left the rest of my box for my papercraft bunker pieces, which fit just fine in the rest of the box.
I put my 4 walkers in a large shoe box, using a tea towel to separate everything and keep them from getting damaged. In the future I'd like to get some pluck foam, either BattleFoam or Figure Foam, and use it to transport my walkers, as they are fragile, and I now have more of them. My local store doesn't carry foam like that though, so I'll probably have to order it online at some point in time. The alternative is I can buy 3" or 4" thick foam squares from fabric/craft stores and cut it myself to fit the walkers.
I use the Army Transport system ... durable carrying case and cut foam blocks from one inch to four inches ... I've used them for years.

Well, I have four of these under construction. I think they will do the trick. If not, I know where to buy more.
Of interest, the bottom layer of foam in the cases are pluck foam, but without the denser support on one side, but it can be glued on.
I took all the mechs and infantry and placed them in the original starter set boxes using battle foam inserts. I have 2 of these that are nearly full with my Rule books, tiles, dice, etc.. being carried in a back-pack.
Just got this...optimistic. Infantry are set. Standard walkers are good. Scratch-built walkers are going to need a few bins removed and maybe some foam...we'll see, All will fit for now.

Just picked up the "Army Transport- Motor Pool" bag today. It retails at 89.00 (i know..) but has plenty of room, blocks bid enough for mechs, and here is what sold me on it:
The zip patch on the top is strangely perfect for fitting the rule and scenario books in.
Also the two zip pouches in the front are eerily perfect for fitting your axis and allied unit card in.
While it would be a stretch to get the cardboard and plastic scenery into this setup, there is another inner sleeve ouch that would fit the 2nd ed. game "mats" nicely.
I highly recommend it.

I need something to store my minis in. The tackle box is a horrible idea IMO. Right now I am storing them, not transporting them, in the plastic trays they come in until I get a foam transport or something.
I play as Axis and the Allies. I'm my own worst enemy.

If you have money I would say Battle Foam Grey Knight Trays.
If you have time I would say do this.

It got me to and from Gencon with no problems, though now I have too many units.
Also It has 2 layers of 49 for the troops.

What kind of foam did you use?

I used BLUECOR but it is no longer easy to find in the thickness I used, 1/8th Inch. DEPRON is an alternative if I remember correctly. You might be able to find a suitable foam at a home improvement store like Lowes or Home Depot. Its usually available in large folded sheets.
