Pre-painted miniatures?
Published on 09 July 2010 - 13:41:41

With the switch to Fantasy Flight, will the painted miniatures for City of Thieves be available in the US?

AEG said English markets or was it just North America?

will have access to pre-painted minis, I hope FFG will keep this.

I hate unpainted minis. I do not buy into games (anymore) that provide unpainted minis. All the games that I have bought that required you to paint have never finished. Get half way through and lose interest. And keeping them all gray is lame and ugly. I like color. As with every game I buy. Pre-painted or nothing. Plus my eye sight no longer allows me to paint, reading has become a difficult task.

Best option would have both painted and blanks.

I'm pretty sure they're supplied unpainted. That's how they are in the advertisement on BBG, and FFG's marketing strategy the past couple of years is to sell figures/pre-painted figures seperately, rather than including them "for free" in the game itself. I personally have no problem with unpainted minis. I prefer them that way. I have no interest in painting, painting is never worth the effort, and I'm never satisfied with pre-paint, as well as the fact that they limit my imagination. If FFG was to make these figures available as a pre-painted box set similar in quality and packaging to Days of Wonder's Shadows Over Camelot pre-painted figure set, I'd probably grab it. But I definitely have no problem with gray figures, and actually prefer it.

Ignorance is futile

Resistance is bliss

Oh I'm sure the game itself will come with unpainted minis. When AEG was the publisher the intent was to offer painted mini's separately, as they did with The Adventurers, and I'm curious if that will carry over to the new publisher.

I would pay extra for pre-painted miniatures.

I demoed this game at GenCon and got to take a look at the pre-painted minis. I have to say, they look REALLY good. I definitely think they would be worth the extra money to purchase, or perhaps offer in a deluxe edition. I'm fully intending to pre-order this game, and if they have the pre-paints available for pre-order, I will do that as well. The Duke figure would be nice to have as well, so please FFG include all of these as buyable options.

I really think they should do something similar to WOLF for tannhauser for the Duke

Order right from FFG or a local shop and get the duke.

It will help out your local shops.

Support your FLGS!

I have 5 in my area so I can only choose to support 2.

I pick the ones that heavily support board game and free play. Those who cater to Magic and War Hammer customers only don't get my gaming bucks.

The game is really and the painted figures are awesome. Playing with the painted figures added more flare to the game for my group of friends who played it after I bought it. I will most like just put the unpainted figures in storage and only play with the painted ones.

Genius by birth.

Grumpy by choice.

Each set of painted figures cost around $30 at GenCon.  They look great and add to the playing experience the Duke adds a nice twist to the game as well.
