Next faction : Japanese or Vril ?
Published on 26 November 2012 - 21:43:58

 Hi guys,

I can't wait for the next faction to come out.  I read everywhere that Japanese are next.  I want to know what do you expect from the Japanase faction ?  Here are my thoughts :

- New rules :  Naval battle

-  New units : Samurai units (King of close combat ?), armor 3 units focus

-  Walker : No idea

- Planes : 3 small armor 1 plane with a pilot leading the unit

- Heroes : Focus on aerial pilots and dual wielding Katana heroes.

- New abilities : Katana's using laser technology (stole it from the Axis ?)

- Story : They attack and Axis base and steal Vk technology.

Vril : I expect Vril to be next since the story seems to be going that way.  But, I find it far more difficult to figure out where they are going with the story.  They invade earth (sauces everywhere ?, fells too apocalyptic) or maybe a small unit comes down to earth with objectives to learn millitary tactics, etc (neutral units that can be used by any factions, that would be cool).

What do you guys think ?

I certainly hope it's the Vrill! I love some weird stuff mixed in a WW2 uchronic era!!! That's why I love Dust so much!

So Vrill would have my vote but if they can pull something awesome with the Japanese (like stealth assassins with 1 and C only weapon lines) i'd jump in too…maybe!

Paolo Parente has already stated that the Japanese will not be sword wielding samurai.

That's because they'll be sword wielding ninjas!

I don't know how they could add a 4th "human" army and keep them unique…

Axis are the big bad dudes with long range, command vehicles, lasers and jets…

Allies are jumping and running all over the place phasing to dust the enemy…

SSU have hovering copters, tesla canons, super humans, tanks and moustaches…

What new stuff could the Japanese bring to the table?

I can only see an alien race as the fourth army! (wishful thinking) :P

Aren't the Japanese part of the Axis though, so they wouldn't be a new faction - more just like the UK/French units in the Allies army (which is largely the US)?

The only completely "new" factions would be the Vrill or the NNO I imagine - of which the Vrill is the most likely.

I would love to see the Japanese though, in a Pacific theatre - facing Allied troops (US Marines, Australians etc) and SSU (more Chinese units)

As we are seeing US Marine units being released it would suggest that some Japanese units could be next, it would seem odd pitting tropical clad Jarheads against Arctic parka wearing Axis troops!

I would like to see the Vrill though, saucers would be great.

Vril were never in AT:43. Therians, which were humans evolved and Cogs, which I don't think will share the style of the Vril, as Paolo has hinted that the Vril will,at least in some part be related to Greys.

Yeah, he has said they will be very "pulp" style aliens.

I think any introduction of the vrill will really divide Dust fans - some like the more extreme elements (zombies, apes etc) whereas others prefer more realistic WW2 style combat, with the slight twist of walkers etc.

It will be interesting to see where it all ends up.  I just want some Aussie troops in slouch hats and shorts

Maxmini make some Digger heads, they would fit the SAS/Legion figures perfectly.

You are correct it was the Cogs. They did suck though.

Wait, do you think they sucked visually or in gameplay?

If it's visually, I agree that they were kind of a letdown.

Gameplay wise, though, I remember them being quite tough, with a lot of talk about them being overpowered when they were released.
