Advice on a Game Please

I'm new to all of this, but I know that I would really enjoy playing one of these games with my friends.  I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good game to start with for someone who doesn't have much experience playing some of these bigger board games.  Arkham Nights looks really cool, but it seems like a pretty big game for someone who really isn't sure how a lot of this stuff works yet.  I'm also a pretty big Tolkien fan, and there seem to be some pretty neat games based on his work.  Any suggestions are welcome.  Thank you!

there are many games that are out there and the questions to answer are all yours to pose.

a game of chice depends on (but not limited to) these questions:

1. - how many players?

2. - what type of game? (strategy,tactical,co-operative,card,team building. .etc)

3. - What genre? (fantasty, sci-fi, modern, historical)

4. - Playtime? (how long)

5. - concentration level? (seriousness)
