I would love to do a thousand sons black shield! Could you imagine a Rubric Marine that was faithful to the emperor serving in the deathwatch? His swelling anger at his chapter for turning to chaos and his infallible faith in the emperor leaving him in control and resisting his brothers sorcerous powers to control him!

IIRC rubric marines have no will of their own, so the Thousand Sons rely on  their sorcerers to control a squad.

You're not htinking about this right, DJSH - think of it less as a normal Deathwatch game, but more as an 80's cartoon where the good guys steal a robot from the bad guys and reprogram it. Now it can think freely! And fight evil! And maybe… love? *insert mad guitar riff here*

And it would almost certainly be called "Ruby the Rubric Marine".

The soundtrack would be 'You Could Be Mine' by Guns n Roses, of course.

The Rubric Marine would have to fight time travelling Necrons.

You should also check out Hammerfalls "Any Mean's Necessary," really good for Space Marines mind set.

My group has a Black Shield that hails from the Grey Knights. (player wanted to be a GK but we didn't want to make a Dark Heresy game) He's kitted out from the Daemon Hunter book as an interceptor and even sometimes out blends the Blood Angel assault marine w/ duel lightning claws.

I was toying with an idea of a Loyalist Astral Claw Apothecary.  Not everyone shares the same opinion as their chapter master Huron.  After learning that the chapter was swelling their ranks with geneseed from the tiger claws as well as their articles of secession.  Learning of this, the loyal Astral Claw attempted to fake his death and fled to the deathwatch watch station.

Jericho Reach actually has an Astral Claws Watch Captain, he even has a relic Lightning Claw.

Also Manowar's "Gods of war" (I swear it's a Space marine Theme song!)

and Dream evil's; The Chosen ones. (This is IMHO the heart of the SM attitude!)

The Emperor protects! (The GM does not!)

So far no, but I have managed to get my hands on a couple of downloadable Chapter rules for the Traitor Legions in case that someone would like to try it out.

I would love to get these, which chapters do you have?

I've got

Emperor's Children

Thousand Sons

Word Bearers

World Eaters

The quality of the writing isn't something to get yourself jumping up and down but I think its ok.

Motto to life: Let the galaxy burn!

Number of Chapters I'm working on: ~60

Finished Chapters: Smoking Fists

Other projects: Feras (Xenos race)

Touched by the Alien (Dark Heresy Campaign)

Hopefully these links will work, but here we go anyway. Please note that the rules are made for playing the Legions as loyalists but it shouldn't need to much work to re-make them into being useable for antagonists.

I hope you enjoy

Yeah, the 'Good Black Shield; Bad Chapter' thing has happened to me.  Funnily enough we've got a Lunar Wolves Black Shield AND an Alpha Legion Infiltrator, though the Alpha is completely devoted to Chaos, and is pretending to be a Raven-Guard Techmarine.  His plan so far involves becoming a Forgemaster then lacing an awful lot of weapons with explosives…Also he's bought a bunch of followers and has put a couple of demo charges in them too.

The Black Shield's actually quite interesting - he wanted to be a guy from the Great Crusade, a sort of quiet-spoken tactician who through wacky warp stuff ended up in the grimdark.  Initially I was 'no' but then I realised it actually would help me with one of my plans for the campaign, so I okayed it.

And the Rubric Marine thing sounds AWESOME, just like the Jivefex and the Groovelord.  I've actually come up with provisional stats for a Jivefex, so I'll see what I can do for Ruby the Rubric Marine.

Also, if you REALLY want to do 'Good Guy; Bad Chapter' have your character be an interdimensional traveller from the Dornian Heresy universe.  That place is full of SO MUCH WIN.  Make them one of the blind soul-bound-to-the-Emperor Thousand Sons, or the noble pure World Eaters.  Have them be really confused by friendly Space Wolves as opposed to Khornate weirdos, and recognise Necron Tech as being stuff the traitorous Iron Hands use.

Or just make them loyalist Night Lords, which is an instant win button.

We also have a Gray Knight Black Shield in my group.

It have been foreseen that he has to fight a great daemon encountered by the Kill Team, there role obscured so they might side with the daemon. Because of that he have infiltrated there group as a Black Shield.
