Sons of Coin, Contested Village, and Huntsmen are great openers with Peasant Militia to lower loyalty on Hidden Grove, Church of Sigmar, and The Imperial Zoo making them great FTC's too.
How many people played in the regional? Were there a lot of Verena builds? We don't see a lot of Verena decks in our meta mainly because everyone is sick of playing it I think. Dark Elf negative hit point is more common.

We were 18 in France regional and I was the only one to play a pure Empire/Verena deck. In France, the meta is dominated by Chaos Control and DE/Hekarti so I decided to play an Empire deck because of Iron discipline and Church.I have played two empire decks on OCTGN : an empire/bounce and an empire/verena.
