What are the extra tokens that come with the base game?

With the base game came 2 small tokens for each lore master (not the tokens used for the war council). They are the same size as the web and poison tokens. What exactly are these used for, I haven't been able to figure it out?

From what I recall I don't think they are used specifically for anything.
I don't think I've ever had them out!
Edit: This thread on BGG has some advice on them.
They could certainly be used in home-brew scenarios or rules however.
