Small and lesser units ?
Published on 03 December 2008 - 21:56:19

Just an idea.

I haven't been active in the days of wonders web pages, so sorry if this has been presented...

Please FFG make lesser units or cannonfodder units ;) Just some 1d/2d hitting units that cannot be bold (or dont give support).

Let me explain. If put in to fantasy setting these lesser units would be small goblins or gritters... the point would be that if you kill these units you dont get a flag for it.

In 100 year war settings minor units would be farmers or something untrained units... low morale and no flag to gain if slain. This would bring some good "extra" elements to game..

Low morale, light hitters, cheap (no VPs), scared (2 hex retreat). One more Cool element to game ;)

Cheers !

That's very interesting. I like the idea. You could procacly make it yourself. It wouldn't be to hard as the rules are esiy and you don't need a flag. Go find some small minis that you can get a lot of cheap. Or use some from another game.

Nope it didn't

Go make it yourself.....

Just a thought, but since there is nothing being offered by FFG in the way of new things for Battlelore,  we have many talented and mofivated players that can do it them selves and do  not need to wait another 1 year ( DOW) and 1/2 year FFG for nothing.

As a hobby community, we have the talent to do it ourselves.

I like the idea as well, especially the peasants, which play an important role.

An interesting idea. Any thoughts for how to deploy them/limitations on how many you could have etc.?

Deployment: Specialist cards...row 3-4 place two lesser units ?

How about this?:

Peasants - Specialist card

Deploy 3 peasant infantry units (only three models to a unit*) on rows three and four

Move 1 and battle or move 2*

Roll 1 dice when attacking (2 in battle backs); only hit on matching dice*

Frightened*

Receives support as normal but only provides support to other peasants

When peasant unit is removed it does not provide a banner toward victory conditions.

* to reflect low morale, poor equipment and lack of training

Minds are like parachutes, they can only save lives when open

Here is the home for all my homebrew goodness.
