Yikes… I just took a look at my grammar and spelling again the next morning. Needless to say I meant "The spell affects you"

Thanks again for the input JC.

I have amended the Black Witch slightly as per your suggestion, using wording from the Amazon, and a little jiggle with the counterspell ability, though I think being "cast on you" should (that's SHOULD) be clear enough.

Crikey, it looks like I might actually have to get around to actually releasing these into the wild!

One final tweak.

Added a Mephisto watermark to the card "back" so that it matches the card it is overlaying.

Only for the release of these though, as when/if this gets put into SE, it will not be required.

Hmm, i see you have changed the Illusionist.

Her original ability is very good.

I also see that the Juggler´s evade ability can only be used on Monsters. I am not sure if this is the intention from Mephisto, but i have changed it to creatures month´s ago. But the story about the Juggler is, that he is fighting against a ogre, which is a monster. So maybe that it is correct.

I think that the last two ability's from the Apprentice Magician is still overpowered:) And can kill the game.

Illusionist

As of now her second ability is completely useless. She can use it only when she attacks. With Objects and Followers she's much stronger and has much less chances of losing, therefore why to create a simulacrum that can't use Objects and Followers? I think she should be able to create simulacrum that is a copy of her and her Followers and Objects.

For her second ability… I would change it that whenever she is going to lose an Object (for whatever reason, including losing a fight) she may roll 1 die, and if the result is 1-3 she loses that Object as normal.

Hello Nemo,

The second ability from the Illusionist is not useless.

It´s a very good ability. She can call the simulacrum, if she thinks that she can´t win the battle or psychic combat.

It´s also handy vs multiple enemies!

Greetings,

Velhart

Hmm, i am looking at the last 2 abilities, but this will create the infinite loop again to gain spells from the discard pile…

The only difference is that you must place the used spells at the bottom of the spell deck.

It can still create problems if some powerful spells will show up like the random spell..

Maybe you could add the following rule. " you may only use each spell from the discard pile one time.

Why will it?

The only loop would be if you could get the same spell again, which you cannot as you place it at the bottom of the pile.

It doesn't create a casting loop either as you can only cast as many spells as you began your turn with.

Hello Jon,

Let´s say that the spell discard pile is empy. The apprentice magician cast  a spell, and after that, she can choose to take it back from the discard pile by using her wand ability

If she choose not to take it, and she get some new spells, then she can always dig later in the game to get  those spells by taking the top card from the discard pile everytime.

Especially if the opponents are not spell casters, then she can easily get those spell cards back.

But i found a simpy solution to it, so she can´t cast the same spells again.

- whenever you discard a spell, you must place it at the bottom of the spell deck.

____________

I think that she is still very good with the other ability, that she can take spells from your opponents from the spell discard pile, or if your oponents must lose some spells by encountering adventure etc cards.

If you think about it, there are a number of characters in the game that can become rather powerful, or even unstoppable, given a specific set of circumstances with cards and spaces.

Though your suggestion seems reasonable, it could also cause another loop if the deck was down to 2 cards or so and you understood what they were.

Either way, Talisman is always open to interpretation and thrives on the various house rules used by groups, so if it works for you then great! :)

I rather like the variation of the last two abilities on the M.A. In almost all cases, it stops spell cycling without the need of that conditional rule about not using the same spell twice. It may not be perfect and maybe backfire in rare situations… but when it comes to Talisman, the rare exception is the common quandry that can never be entirely eliminated. This change is a good compormise in keeping things simple.

Yes, but because we have already 80 spell cards or more.., the spell deck will never be down to 2 cards. So i assume that those spell cards that the apprentice magican has used, will probably not be seeing again in the game, unless someone draws the demigod and all spell cards must be shuffled again.

I am happy with the change for now :)
