After three months of being mad busy I have returned once again to templates.

I tried a couple of banners/scrolls for names on the newer design, but they didn't look quite right.

I have reverted to the older design, which is simpler and a tad classier I think, and updated the scroll with a textured font (maybe not to everyone's taste) and altered a few aspects of it slightly. It seems to look okay…

Not sure what happened to my post yesterday, but as you might see in the above post I have reverted to the plain font though have stuck with the bevelled scroll and character image.

I made a few examples and my panel of experts have chosen the above, so I shall now stop tinkering!

The character standees will be available to download from Talisman Island as soon after the official release of The City as I can manage.

Funagain Games have confirmed that their copies will arrive on January 25th. They were originally due January 18th, but one week delay. That means hopefully my copy will be in the UK by January 31st (up to 3 business days, not including 26th-27th as weekend). Just in time for me to take it to the Conception Games Convention!!!

Character tokens for The City will be uploaded to Talisman Island this week at some point, along with each set so far.

thanks for the tokens.  much appreciated!

used to play talisman (2nd edition) when i was a kid, and now, decided to pick up the latest version to play w/ my kids and the miniatures in the sets just didn't do it for me.  found your website, which albeit a little confusing, is a treasure trove of information and resources.  i especially liked the painted miniatures you got but, as you mentioned, if i had those, i'd never use them b/c they looked so great.

these token cards are just the right thing for me b/c the graphics are so brilliant and really help w/ the immersion (vs the colorless miniatures).  i plan to print them out on photo stock paper on my inkjet.

what are you doing for the stands?  i see three options.

1. fantasy flight has clear plastic stands which look ok (i'd want to rough them up and paint them though).  can't really get a decent detailed picture of one though - only the 10 pack picture.

2. i see an earlier link to a game part store but, their forum has some dodgy customer service posts so i'm reluctant to go to them.  they do carry 2 types of stands - of which, i'd get the large game stand which look simple.

3. make my own stands - get some wood and cut 1"w x 1"l x .5"h (roughly) blanks, cut a groove in the middle somehow, and paint them.  or something like that… guess i could use some heavy card stock as well.

i'm open to ideas though.

I used these: http://www.boardgameextras.co.uk/item.php?id=1196&name=+rectangular+card+stand&cat=283&sub_cat=0#.URKD62f18is

The FFG bases are designed for very thick card standees only. Not suitable at all for ones printed at home!

thanks for that info.  i eventually found some photos of it and you're right.

here's my final product.  the base set isn't in the photos b/c i had put them in the box already.

my thoughts… if i had to do it again, i'd just buy those stands.  took much too long to make my own wooden ones.  it's a little hard to tell, but the Grim Reaper and Werewolf tokens are larger and i made them w/ black edges.

now, off to replace the little cones b/c i can't grab them w/ my sanded fingertips!

Do you have a larger res pic you can share? I'd really like to see these up close! Good job!

sorry for the late reply.

i uploaded a couple more pics on the boardgame site (which i'm slowly learning to navigate better) - just linking the medium sized version for ease of loading.   the sharp-eyed may notice a couple of missing ones… i found the printed image just now that i forgot about - you can see a hint of them just off to the side.  heheh.  (also, don't have Frostmarch yet)

Very nice! It's good to know that the tokens are getting some use.
