Games Workshop

Hi all.

Curious, when did FFG buy Games Workshop, and what trademarks weren't included in the deal?

Thanks!

They didn't buy them.  They just have an agreement to reproduce and revamp GW boardgames and even to create new games based on GW products.

...and RPGs. FFG licensed everything that would have come from Black Industries (part of GW) had they not been closed. I somehow doubt that BI would have released quite so much, so quickly though!

Harbourmaster at Talisman Island  - Fourteen magical years & counting!! - Chock full of Talisman goodness! Igigwe!

Sometimes I even update my Facebook page for the site!

Arrrrrrr!

I thought that Black Industries was a separate company to GW. Might be wrong though. It's a moot point anyhow, now that FFG have obtained all the rights instead.

Nothing to see here... move along.

Read on another forum somewhere that FF had the rights to the old GW Specialist line of games( Mordheim, Necromunda, Blood Bowl). Any truth to this and if so any word on if FF is developing anything new & miniature based?

I kinda laughed when you asked that. I really don't think even FFG, a fine purveyor of board, card and roleplaying games, could purchase the most powerful and largest miniature wargaming company on the face of the planet.

No, they just have access to GW's highly guarded IP.

@ Phin, from the press release (back in '08)

"The agreement does not include certain GW titles in which miniatures feature as the predominant component of
the game, such as Space Hulk and Blood Bowl."

I would say that Mordheim and Necromunda also fall under that "predominant miniatures" category.

the full release can be found here.
