Just like other forms of entertainment, games are a highly subjective experience. Here is some advice to help you make your first choices:

1. Choose subject matter that’s interesting to you.

Each game is an opportunity to forget day to day life for a while, and enjoy spending time with your friends. We recommend you choose a game with a theme and style that stimulates your imagination.

Are you a fan of online roleplaying games? Try World of Warcraft: The Adventure Game. Like gritty science fiction? Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game may be for you. Enjoy high fantasy? You'll probably like the A Game of Thrones Card Game. Do you like being scared? Arkham Horror may be up your (dark) alley.

2. How many people do you play with?

Most games let you play with different numbers of players. Some games designed to be played by a lot of players, but others can be played between two players, or even by yourself. For instance, Cold War is designed for two players, while Citadels can be played by three to eight.

3. How much time do you have to play?

Some games, like role-playing games or large board games, are enjoyed over the course of a long afternoon or evening, while others are quick games, designed to be played in an hour or less. If you want to play Twilight Imperium, prepare to spend four or more hours on a large game, but a round of RattleSnake can take less than ten minutes!

4. Investigate.

You can find a lot of information on FFG games right here on our website, but you can also find reviews on many other sites.

Of course, nothing beats seeing the game in person. Many local game stores have demo copies of our games, so you can see them in person. Gaming conventions also allow you to try many different games.

Whichever game you decide upon, welcome to the hobby of gaming! Have fun!
