In the winter of 2005, Fantasy Flight Games released World of Warcraft: the Board Game worldwide. As part of its pre-order promotion, fans were able to receive Rare Edition bronze figures of their heroes from the board game.

Now, due to the overwhelming demand for these heroes, Fantasy Flight Games is proudly making the Limited Edition of these bronze figures available to everyone! All sixteen heroes will be featured in all their glory.

But what's the difference?
There are two differences between the Rare and Limited Editions of the bronze figures that are unmistakeable.

The Felt Base
Rare Edition bronze figures have black felt on their base. Their Limited counterparts have a bright green felting in the same place.

The "ULTD" Mark
Limited Edition bronze figures are stamped with the letters "ULTD" along the back rim of their base, as shown below. This signifies that Limited Edition figures will be made available in unlimited quantities for the length of their run (which is one year). Rare Edition bronze figures, of which only 300 sets were ever made, have no markings here.

Aside from these differences, the Limited Edition bronze figures are identical in every respect to their Rare Edition counterparts. They are the same high-quality bronze with ink wash, bringing out incredible detail.

Why isn't the Rare Edition Human Paladin (or Troll Rogue, or Dwarf Priest, or ...) available as a Limited Edition figure?
The Limited Edition figures are being released in two sets of eight. The first set includes the Night Elf Warrior, the Tauren Hunter, the Orc Warrior, the Gnome Mage, the Dwarf Hunter, the Human Warlock, the Forsaken Warlock, and the Troll Priest. It is available now.

The second wave of eight includes the Night Elf Druid, the Tauren Druid, the Orc Shaman, the Gnome Rogue, the Dwarf Priest, the Human Paladin, the Forsaken Mage, and the Troll Rogue. The second wave will be released in the middle of May, 2006. All sixteen hero figures from World of Warcraft: the Board Game will be available in bronze.
