FFG's Family Games

by Sally

RattleSnakeLast week, I tried teaching my five-year-old niece how to play some Fantasy Flight games. She enthusiastically clapped at the notion, so I figured I was free to start her off with Twilight Imperium Third Edition. Though the was dazzled by the many brightly-colored pieces, I felt her gameplay lacked subtly. I decided to pursue slightly simpler fare… Descent: Journeys in the Dark, with The Well of Darkness expansion. As I was hurriedly fishing the Tahlia figure out of my niece's nostril, I remembered that Fantasy Flight publishes a wonderful selection of games which are perfect for kids and families! If StarCraft: The Board Game just isn't quite right for your family game night, you should give these games a try.

PenguinPenguin

Stack penguins to your heart's content without those pesky environmental activists knocking down your door. Created by acclaimed designer Reiner Knizia, Penguin is a great fast-paced family game suitable for two to four players ages five and up.

RattleSnake

Be the first to place all of your magnetic rattlesnake eggs on the colorful gameboard before they all come crashing together. Simple gameplay coupled with devilishly responsive magnets make RattleSnake a delight for two to four players aged eight years and up.

Black Sheep
BlackSheep — Coming Soon

Designed by Reiner Knizia and illustrated by the incredibly talented Ursula Vernon, In BlackSheep, players try to corral the best combination of cows, horses, chickens and more while avoiding the mischievous black sheep. BlackSheep is perfect for two to four players ages eight and up.
